Shin Lim also has some awesome material on this subject but I’m mot excited about this project for the samples that come with it! Lim and others have shown and described different types of the material, but having actual samples to take to like a fabric store is awesome!

outside of stage - black art got popular with vhs quality videos using velveteen fabric. with hd that dies not pass, until the new tech arrives. I am aware of monsu black from japan, but its scratches off easily so cant be applicable.

You'd think for $80 they could include a few yards of fabric and patterns for a fully rigged closeup pad.

Where I'm from there's none of the fabric and still can't get the correct lighting for camera unless I adjust the camera setting which I don't want to doo!!

I guess if you want to get into black art it will feed your mind but I actually think they should have gone higher end and make it several hundred dollars. Send you lots of materials and something premed to try and super detailed making instructions. Also include a remote controlled pull. At least you wouldn’t have to spend 80 just to have a starting place. A high end kit to really get immersed would be way more useful. For 80 bucks I could get way more detailed lectures or several really good tricks.

I own shin lims 52 shades of red and I really like the concept of black art even though it's not the most practical tricks. What do you recommend on the subject of black art other than this?
