Old Mill vs. Garfield’s Nightmare - Side by Side Full Ride POV - Kennywood Park - Dark Ride

Given that the Old Mill track is basically the same and it's more about the contents. Was curious to see what the side by side of the updated Old Mill vs. Garfield's Nightmare looks like. So I figured I would put it out to everyone. Even though everyone was happy to see Garfield go, do you feel that the new Old Mill lives up to the hype? The one thing about Garfield is that they certainly packed a ton into the ride whereas the new theme is more minimal. Give it a look and let me know your thoughts. I did my best to narrow it down as close to the start and end points as possible, however given the nature of the propulsion system of the ride, one of the videos falls behind a bit in the process. This is awesome, because it shows how different the two versions really are, and I think Garfield would have been fine if Kennywood would have taken better care of the ride and repainted it

I do miss the big outdoor displays they had in the original ride during the two big loopbacks (the tipping outhouse, the skeleton band), but they wouldn't be dark during the day, of course. Reverting back to darkened transition passages is brilliant -- these are the moments that make it a true tunnel of love and an actual "dark" ride.

Thanks for posting this! COVID impacted schedule and scope as you can probably imagine, but we think it's great that Kennywood remained committed to re-theming the ride this year. I honestly wish there was more action and more sound in The Old Mill, but even then, it's FAR superior than Garfield.

The Old Mill was way better in (2001/2002/2003) (pre Garfield’s Nightmare) I thought that the new one would provide some elements of nostalgia, but I consider it a bit of a disappointment now. The older version of the old mill may have been better than Garfield’s Nightmare, but Garfield’s Nightmare was way more entertaining than the new Old Mill (2021) This new old mill (compared to the 2002 one) has nothing too exciting or nostalgic to see except the train that reminds you of the old Gold Rusher’s ghost train, and the neon Color scheme from Garfield’s Nightmare. It has hardly any animatronics. The old mill in 2002 had a crazy amount of hilarious and/or horrifying animatronics. This 2021 “update” is essentially a cheapie/boring version of the classic old mill from before 2004.

Garfields nightmare is better. BECUASE the old mill. Booorrrrinngg. Is just about this skeleton in a desert who says nothing and only shows us what hes up too. Unless it's Garfields nightmare I'm only hearjng

This new Old Mill ride was BORING compared to Garfield's Nightmare! Garfield's nightmare yes was hooky and loud color wise, but I would rather have that than boring with skeletons that didn't even
