I was a CTR from 83 to86. Saw every port in the Pacific, SE Asia, Australia, Hawaii. The best years of my life.

I was a CTR in the Navy from 1993 to 1997. I then served in the Army from 1997-2003 as a 98H/98-K (equivalent of CTR.) I took part in some highly-classified SIGINT ops during my military service.

When I joined. we were Communications Technicians (CT). The rating was changed to Cryptologic Technician (CT) in 1976.
I was a CTR (Collection).
CTR school. Pensacola, Fl 1971;
Temporary duty Phu Bai Vietnam 1972 (Earned CAR);
Temporary duty USS Coral Sea (CV43) 1974/75;
Temporary duty USS Kitty Hawk (CV63) 1979;
USS Ingersoll (DD990) 1988-92 (Earned ESWS);
Honorable Shellback X3, Golden Shellback;
Two tours of duty at The National Security Agency;
Plank owner, Naval Security Group Activity Pyongtaek, Korea;
I also served in Okinawa, the Philippines, and Thailand.

I'm 72 now, and would not change a thing.

I was a CTO in the Navy from 1977 thru 1981, spent my entire time in the Pentagon, loved it. I didn't re-up because I am the only child and needed to take care of my parents, if it wasn't for that, I would have went to my next station in Scotland :) I still encrypt all my emails today to my friends.

Was CT Radioman from 1958 - Was a cool experience.... Wish I could be doing what they do very interesting and intriguing for a 18 to 21 year old Very proud of my experience.... Still honor my NDA... Will all my life....

When i was in the Navy, there was at least 5 separate crypto rates. Some of them, you can make Chief in 8yrs.

I served in the Navy('75-'84) as a CT-R, loved every minute of it!! I was even selected for 2 afloat assignments uss Midway cva-43(sea of Japan cruise) and uss Constellation cva-64 (Philippines and South East Asia cruise) home base was NSGA Hanza Okinawa, Japan I'd do it all again!!

Was an EW/CTT2 (was in school when the ratings merged). Really cool job but definitely one of the more stressful ones.
