Jewish Renaissance in Armenia amid Exodus from Russia

The Jewish community in Armenia has a rich history, but it remains small and relatively tight-knit. The Russian invasion of Ukraine in February prompted many Jews from Russia, as well as from Belarus and Ukraine, to settle in Armenia, breathing new life into the country’s Jewish community. CivilNet spoke to community members and Gershon Burstein, the Chief Rabbi of Armenia, to get more familiar with this community, which some historians date back to the times of the Armenian king Tigran the Great.

Jews have had a recorded presence inside Armenia since the time of Tigranes. If they speak Armenian, live in Armenia and consider themselves part of the Armenian nation, they’re no less Armenian than any Armenian Christian.

What happens when you mix a Jews & Armenians?
You get amazingly intelligent and talented people like Kasparov & Aronian.
My Mother was Georgian, and her side of the family included a long line of Georgian Jews mostly from what was called Kutais, most I believe left for Israel, and I do believe we may have still distant 3rd cousins in Israel.
Both people are over achievers and very talented and I am sure they will contribute to the Armenian nation and culture

I am Armenian mostly from Iran, but when I did a DNA test, I found out that I am Iranian Jew, very high percentage. This story made me understand how this could have happened. He touched upon the topic and how these Iranian Jews moved back to Iran. My grandfather kept the tradition as much as possible.
