A nice explanation, with one exception: Gertner was working with a deck of 47 cards, not 52 as he had pulled the royal flush in spades out. In your demo, 2 of those cards appeared as selections. If that had happened in a real performance, the trick would have been blown.

I don't understand why everybody is hating on him for revealing a magic trick. If you didn't want to know how the trick is performed, don't watch the video. It's amusing how people will click on a video that says in the title that it will be revealing a card trick, then go down into the comments to complain that he did what he said the video was going to be about. And its not that he's saying that is reveal is definitely correct - he says that its just his opinion about 30 seconds into the video. I do agree with those saying that the vid was a bit too long, he didn't need to recap

For everyone complaining about him "revealing" the trick, note that he said at the beginning that this was his opinion of how the trick was done. Note that he doesn't have any inside information... I watch the show to try and figure out how the tricks are done -- I'm not a skilled magician (although even I saw the bottom of the deck dealing, as did P&T, and I noticed the raised edges around the royal flush cards). P&T's show is called FOOL US, meaning that the goal of the show is TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

Does that make Paul any less of a magician? NO! It just shows that he has a LOT of skill. No respect lost by me knowing how it's done.

Good explanation. I just tried this and fooled myself!

There have been a few cases where Paul (and others) would ask for last names, and then realizing that they are too long, switches to first names, which is a big indication that the number of cards is critical to puling it off, obviously as the deck only has 52 cards total, but with 5 guests, you only have 47 cards (possibly even less in some cases depending on the trick) you can' eal out in this manner as was shown.

I think the target card have to be served from the bottom of the deck in first place, that way it´ll be under the rest of the count; your theory is correct despite off this point; i was practicing it and works very well. Congrats!

Well done man! I always like to watch the tricks on TV & then kinda come up with my own idea of how it might be done then come to YouTube & watch some of these reveal videos to see if I at least was thinking somewhat along the right lines. Thank you for the vids!

I watched that video three times to find a point where he could slip them under the pile, thanks for the explanation

I really like the theory and fell like there is a lot to it. But there is one thing that kind of doesn’t add up. When he puts each card at the bottom of the deck in the beginning, they are going to be in reversed order when he is dealing them. So he either has to do a difficult ‚put at the bottom of the deck in reverse‘ or he does a cheeky totally different maneuver.
Would be interested in that..

Agreed on the bottom dealing to place the spectators' chosen cards.
BUT - if in the original performance you pause during the very rapid whole deck reveal, at 2.22 you can see the JS near the right, and at 2.23 you can see the QS near the centre and I think the 10S four cards to the left.
I can't see what stopped the spectators choosing one of those.
If they're already on the table (camouflaged) why have them in the deck??
If they're in the deck why not "hide" them at the bottom to stop them being chosen?

Yo I just went back and watched the flush reveal. You CAN see the thick black velvet border around the cards!! Pause the video and look at the queen specifically, that card has a thicker black border. This confirms that this is how it was done.

Thanks!

Like your channel, but you used the ace of spades and the jack of spades for the selected card, so it would be great if you explained how that would work 😁

It's great to see how it's actually done. Great reveal

As you said he didn’t force the spectators to pick cards. But what if someone had picked one card, that’s also featured in the royal flush? And as you can see in the beginning, these cards are actually in the deck.
Edit: other than that, nice explanation.
Edit: I just rewatched the clip. When he flips the cards around, you can’t see the cards needed for the royal flush anywhere, so maybe he forced them to not pick one of these cards.

I had guessed it right entirely :D
But I still can't see his "bottom deal" even though I watched carefully so hard. I know he's doing it and you can tell he's not doing it straightforward but still can't see it. He's too good.

You can see a black border because the (normally) white edge of the cards had to be blacked.Otherwise they’d be visible on the tablecloth.
