I used to think every investor went broke during recessions, meanwhile some make millions. I also thought everybody went out of business during the Great Depression, but some went into business. What if we took 1985 instead of 1980 that is after the big gold and silver bubble had burst?

The rise (and fall) of silver prices hitting $50 is an EXTREME anomaly. It blipped up so quickly you could not realistically of sold above $40 at that time and took a vertical down crash even faster. We need to stop mentioning this 2008 event, it has NOTHING to do with today's metal prices. The 2011 event was more sustained only what we really need is a little less volatility and a little more price stability.

For me, its not just the possible gains you can make with gold and silver, its also that they are RELIABLE. I watched this show called "Narcos" about Pablo Escobar. Towards the end of the series, Escobar needs to get outta Dodge, and he needs money to do it. So he sends out one of his goons to go dig up big suitcases full of 100 dollar bills. But as it turns out, the money had LITERALLY ROTTED. Now, if Pablo had stashed some gold eagles, he would have made good his escape. I'm not a drug kingpin -- duh!-- but I think of that episode every time I see the dollar almost dissolving into debt confetti. Good Lord, it buys less and less and less!
