Just imagine the music video for this aong ...
They're all on stage
Everyone of them dressed as a different era
Props from all of their videos set up behind them
And as they get farther into the song, more and more of the props start disappearing
Eventually every prop is gone and its just the band on stage.
That's when slowly Mikey disappears, his bass crashing to the floor
Everyone else keeps playing
Then Ray
His guitar drops, strings pop off and the wood cracks
but they keep singing.
Then Frank
The song ends
Gerard's hands drops to his side he let's the microphone slip out of his hand
He starts to walk off stage but before he reaches the exit, he fades away...
All that's left on the stage are the shattered instruments...
And screen fades to black

Okay, now i'll tell you something xD That last chord on the piano, the last LAST LAST one, isn't used normally to end a song. That kind of chords are used to make a pause or a silence or to cut the song and continue it, but it usually don't ends there... (i don't really know how is it called in english). They still have to play that last chord after the silence...

I know it's a pretty popular idea that this song somehow predicts MCR's eventual reunion, but the more I listen to the lyrics the more I'm starting to think that the original intent was exactly the opposite.

Instead of a promise of a return, it's a benediction, and in some ways even an explanation as to why they will probably never reunite.

In the first verse we hear "some people watch/some people pray...some people hope/some people pay, " which seems to refer to their fanbase, but interspersed between these lines we hear "but even lights can fade away....why'd we have to stay?" and in the next few lines "even heroes get the blues....and we were born to lose." No matter how good the band was, or how large and powerful their fanbase, the first verse tells us that there was always going to be a point when they just couldn't do it anymore.

The chorus offers us another explanation for the breakup. In a couple of interviews, particularly earlier in the band's career, Gerard mentioned that he had hoped to somehow change the world through his music, maybe even make life just a little bit better. But a decade after starting the band, the world was hardly any better for it--in a lot of ways, violence and fear are much more a part of our lives now than they were ten years ago. For this reason, Gerard "chooses defeat" and leaves this place "the same" (written above as for sane)--still as full of pain as it ever was.

The second verse offers more direct advice to the fans. The first few lines remind us "you want the heart/or to be saved/but even good guys still get paid"--even if they started with the best of intentions, it soon becomes hard for bands not to get caught up in profits. But Gerard also offers a response: "so watch my back/and keep the blade/I think it got you laid." Though he admits that he himself may not always be immune to the effects of profits, he asks his fans to hold tight to what he gave them, and what originally drew them together-the music.
The second part of the verse is a bit harder to interpret, but the lines "fake your death/or it's your blame" seem to refer to a decision to break the band up seemingly early, and on fairly peaceable terms ("faking" their death) rather than waiting for the band to fall apart in a mess of infighting and a dwindling fan base--the "true death" of a band, a process they would all immensely regret and blame themselves for.
Another theory is that the lines "fake your death" and "leave the lights on when you stay" refer to the fact that despite the band's apparent breakup, the fanbase has stayed alive and active.

Finally, in what might be called the second verse, Gerard starts repeating "just look at all that pain/ just give me all that pain"--even as he leaves, he still wants to help people. After twelve years, he knows he'll probably never be able to change the world like he always wanted to, but he still can't help hoping that maybe the music he's created and the impression that he's left on his fans might be just enough to ease the pain of even a few people. And on this note, I think he was far more accurate than he ever expected to be--not only is the fan base still active, it's still growing.
And I think that's probably the biggest accomplishment MCR can claim.
So remember even if you're dusted, you may be gone, but out here in the desert, your shadow lives on without you.

1. "We like to *play* just look at all that pain"
2. the song is called *fake* your death
3. Gerard wanted the band to follow in the footsteps of the smashing pumpkins. *12 years* together, break up and then get back together *6 years* later.
4. 6 years later would be the year *2019*. The year that *danger days* was based in.
5. Mikey finding the old pictures and black parade jacket.
6. The website mess up.
I don't get it. It seems a little fishy to me but hey just saying.

They actually faked their death.
They came back.
They didn't walk away. They didn't leave this place the same. They changed the world in ways they can't even imagine.
They're just such a big part of my and so many others lives. I'm happy they're back, we really needed them back.

I'm so upset! I wish I was born so much earlier! I like My Chemical Romance, and they broke up before I knew they existed. I like Fall Out Boy, and they went on a two year hiatus before I knew they existed. I like Panic! At The Disco, and two of the people in that band left before I knew they existed. I like Three Days Grace, and the lead singer (the person who made the band good and my fave person in the band) left. I like Suicide Silence, and the lead singer DIED before I knew they existed. I just can't win can I!?!

When I listen to this song I can't help but imagine Gerard/everybody else writing this song. Then the boys gather one last time in the recording booth and create this song, their final one together. Then they might've packed up everything and said goodbye. Maybe a tear was shed in this process.

But I do know that a tear was shed while writing this comment omg.

You know, I think I have moved past being sad every time I still hear a certain MCR song. I mean hell, some odd years of them still making and producing music is a long ass time. Plus we forget that there is STILL the music AND the interviews AND the random moments we got to see while they were together. If you really think about it, there's no reason to be sad when we have these memories. They brought us their bullets, we brought them our love. They told us to gave em hell, we hung em high. As Gerard said for BP"Death comes for you in the form of your favorite memory." Let your favorite MCR song be that favorite memory. We can still be Killjoys, black paraders, bullet bringers and revenge enthusiasts. We'll carry on, just like we were taught to. Their famous last words are to never let them take the light behind our eyes. I know it's hard, I jumped on the MCR bandwagon the spring of '11 but never listened to any other songs by MCR. I then rejoined the bandwagon in the fall of '13. They taught us many things. With each of us taking those teachings many different ways. Mikey, Ray, Frank and Gerard are still making music. Granted it may not be with who we want but they are. They knew that the band wouldn't last any longer than it already had. We can hope and we can dream and we can pray that they get back together but deep down inside we all know that Gerard is right and it was just an idea. A great idea at that as well.
Killjoys, continue making noise.
Paraders, continue marching on.
2001-2013
Even though you may be gone, but out here in the desert, your memory carries on.
