A 4-year-old, watching her mom cook fish, asked why it was cut into three pieces. Mom said it's how grandma did it, and she learned from her. The child asked grandma, who said it was from her mom's way. Unsatisfied, the kid asked great-grandma, who revealed she used to cut the fish into 3 pieces because her husband had bought her a small frying pan and the whole fish couldn't fit in the small pan, big frying pans were not available those days which is not the situation now.

The child, now content, realized the importance of asking "WHY." This story teaches that questioning why we do things can lead to innovation, solutions, and efficiency in our daily tasks. Asking "WHY" can bring progress and eliminate unnecessary efforts.

Our society definitely lacks that perspective on the world. Most people only know answers to questions that school forced them to memorize. The following story happened a lot in my life to the point where it actually worries you about the future of humanity: I was reading a book, when some friend walks by, thinks I'm doing something strange, asks me what I'm doing, to which I respond:"reading a book", asks me:"Why?, we're not in school you don't need to be studying".(And then walks away with a laigh of derision, as if I'm the one who's brainwashed and tricked into doing something stupid). This happened enough times to actually leave me sad for what the world has become. People don't get that asking questions could be to satisfy your thirst for knowledge instead of just answering some question on a test. And I feel like parents are doimg mostof the danage here. I remember Neil Degrasse saying something on the lines of: when children reach out to grab an egg, the first reaction that comes out of parents is to order the child to leave it, afraid that he'll break it, when it would only cost them 50 cents at max, and would teach the child that something could be hard yet fragile, when jumping around the kids would be shouted at to stop so that they don't get into the mud and stain their jeans, while cleaning their clothes wouldn't compare to letting them have the discovery that mud leaves stains, that fluids like mud will move away from the force or source of pressure. A lot of the times, parents rip children's love for discovery. He said that children are born scientists, so leave them alone. "A scientist is a child that never lost his curiosity". I wish more people could see that.
