This musik encapsulates what the Germans term "Fernweh" an inexplicable yearning for a far-off place, somewhere to fee comfortable, and really feel you belong there! Breaking out of the confines of a solipsistic bubble!

The more one escapes the crushing reality of the outside world, the more one is trapped in one's inner world. there is nothing outside that interests me. My eyes dive into my dreams, I take refuge in my own realities. Whenever I stick my head out, I'm left breathless and floundering like a beached fish. They say: "You must fight!" But for what? War is fought for something, for a meaningful purpose. But I am meaningless. I have voids that can never be filled.

Every time you wake up
Too gone to see

Every time you come down
So far from me
From me...

Next time when you wake up
You’re lost at sea

I just watch you sink down
You fade away from me
From me...

Where do you go
When the life slips from your eyes?

I’ll never know
Why you smiled and waved goodbye,
Goodbye...

Where do you go
When the life slips from your eyes?

I'll never know
Why you smiled and waved goodbye,
Goodbye...

Everyone is talking about the music, but the girl in this video did an incredible job. That emptiness in her eyes literally killed me. I feel so dead by just looking at her. Hammock's music is beyond perfect. God bless 🙏

I always thought that these glances we have with strangers, in the subway station, aisles supermarkets where we for a sec make eye contact with a person that attracts somehow then look away. That very temporary feeling of wanting to know them but we forget about it just the next moment. It has some kind of unique power something special and curious.

i'm not sure if anyone is going to read my comment. But this is exactly how i felt some time ago in the past. it's like this darkness that takes over your mind, and it starts to change your perspective of life, every aspect is affected. Even if i feel better now, i will never forget this feeling, and i still wish i would have die, but i'm here and i'm not happy but i'm okay, and that is really what i take pleasure in, my well being. thank you for reading. and may you find a way out .

I listen to Hammock only when I'm alone, because I'd definitely bawl my eyes out. Hammock sure knows how to get deep within your emotions.

In 2016, I used to listen to this song on repeat while working late nights. I don’t know why I stopped listening to it. I’ve spent the past four years trying to find it again. I remembered what it sounded like but didn’t remember it was Hammock. I had a feeling it may have been. On a whim, started listening to old Hammock songs hoping that song would come up in suggestions. Lo and behold….

For those in need of an interpretation or who think this video is nothing more than reused clips from Hammock's previous videos, I offer the following: This video should be viewed as a dramatic continuation of the Cold Front video. Cold Front is about grief and how one experiences and confronts their grief, whether that grief stems from a physical death or a romantic death. I see this video as an expression of the ability of the human heart to move forward after experiencing a profound loss and to return to the world of the living. The concept is expressed through a series of flashbacks to the Cold Front video and through the process of "walking, " in an attempt to move forward, if only through small steps, to begin the process of healing, by letting go of the past and reaching out to others (hence, the eye glance and ever so slight smile in the diner). A walk, if you will, from the darkness of the pain and suffering of the human soul to the light of the living as a process of recovery (conceptualized in the film by walking the center line between the inner world of sadness/loss and the outer world of earthly reality; the world of others). Yet, at the same time, feeling lost within the outer world - the phenomenal world - and unable to fully participate in it. Hence, the title "sinking inside yourself." Viewed in this way, this video is an amazing example of conceptual art that only a master director (David Altobelli) and superb actress (Jessica Nicole Collins) could pull off. There are other scenes I could analyze (such as the significance of the lottery ticket, the role switch between the main character and the waitress, the significance of light against darkness, the dropping of the crucifix into the coffee cup, and the cars passing by towards the end of the video), but I'll let you figure those out on your own.

I thought David Altobelli stopped making Hammock music videos! I'm so glad he didn't. One of the greatest music video directors by far. His masterpiece has got to be 'Hammock - Breathturn'.

I've been there, and I know I'm not the only one. Though many of us may feel alone, and have times when we feel like we are sinking inside of ourselves, we really aren't alone, because we're all connected.

Anyways, that's a beautiful song and video, keep it up Hammock :)
