What PLAYER (non Montreal this time) should pop up in the next video? First reply to this comment is who it will be

Kaprizov actually can’t be offer sheeted because of his 10.2c status. He hasn’t played enough games to be a normal RFA. Just so you know. He either signs in Russia or with the Wild.

This could be a year when we actually have an offer sheet.

I'd offer sheet Makar for $12 mil. He's established himself as a top 3 offensive defenseman and an elite defenseman as well. Losing 4 1st is worth it for a player of his caliber, and if Colorado matches then it almost balances the league more with how good their contracts are.

A couple of things.
1) You asked about teams making multiple offer sheets. The restriction is that you have to have the picks available. If I offer sheet someone in the 1st+2nd+3rd compensation bracket then the only offer sheets I can put out are the ones that require 0 compensation or the 4 1sts compensation (if the compensation in a single offer sheet takes multiple picks in the same round you're given an extra year to provide those picks. 3 years for the 2 1sts, 5 years for the 4 1sts). Of course if you OS a player and their team matches it officially then your pick can be used for another offer sheet.
2) You didn't say anything to contradict this but I always point out on these posts that the compensation's not exactly based on the AAV. It's based on the average value split over the lower of either the number of years or 5. If a deal is $50M over 7 years, despite the AAV ($7.14M) falling cleanly in the 1st + 2nd + 3rd compensation, it would actually count as a $10M AAV for compensation purposes and would require an additional 1st.

3) You mentioned Quinn Hughes and he's not eligible to be offer sheeted. He signed his ELC in March 2019 so he was 19 years old, A 19 year old must complete 3 professional seasons (11+ games in the AHL/NHL/ECHL/european leagues) in order not to be a 10.2 RFA. Hughes only played 5 games in his 19 year old season before being sent back to the University of Michigan (not a pro team) so he hasn't completed the requisite 3 years.

Hughes and Kaprizov can't be offersheeted. They are both 10.2(c) RFA'S.

Seattle is probably the only team that is able to really throw offer sheets. If they don't do anything stupid like taking Loui Eriksson, Jeff Skinner and Matt Duchene at the expansion draft, of course.
And, well, I still don't see it. Like, do you need Patrik Laine? Yes, you do. But do you need Patrik Laine for 8 years, 10M per? Hell no.

I am always scared of an Ottawa Senator being offered sheeted. Like Drake Batherson for $6M may make Melnyk say 'take him' being the cheap bastard he is. In fact, a team can probably target Brady Tkachuk with an 8M contract with a large signing bonus and Melnyk would walk from it (as he despises signing bonuses since the Heatley fiasco) and then get Tkachuk for a 1rst, 2nd and 3rd.

After Tampa had Cernak, Cirelli, and Sergachev to sign with only 4-5 mil in space and was vulnerable to an offersheet for weeks and it never happened makes me think that if there is an offersheet, it will be a real treat to cherish.

Don’t know why gm’s take offer sheets personally like that. It’s part of the job a gm shouldn’t have to pass an opportunity too get a young stud because of the other gm’s feelings

The only teams that should be thinking about offersheet are the one who are comfortable in making the playoffs so that the first isnt very good. They probably have to have a need of a player in a certain position to make it worth while and they have to have cap space. So with that out of the way I can think of one perfect storm on one possible but only on a certain condition.

NYR offer sheet Elias Pettersson 5x10, 2 - Perfect storm
- They have cap space over 50m the next two years, yes they have players to sign
- But if they also trade Strome the additional cap is only 5, 7m
- They have good young goalie, D and wingers but no good coming centers
- Good chance of making playoffs with Pettersson so picks are low
- Cost is lower than for Eichel who in my mind at least is not as good as Pettersson and has a serious injury

Vegas offer sheet Pettersson - Long shot
- They must trade MAF
- All they need is a center and dont have the prospects to trade for one
- Will make the playoffs so picks are low

Pettersson gets
- Better team = Better chance to win
- Better contract
- NY/Vegas is bigger market
- Its the Rangers

- Lower taxes in Nevada

The reason why this could work is that Vancouver has very little cap space and if contract discussions drags out they might not have the cap to match - Still very unlikely though

When you said Makar it showed Heskenin, when you showed Heiskenin it showed Brady, when you said him it wasn't them😂😂

The Aho offer was in the bonus. Offered what the whole year profit was for them

Seems like this question is asked every season and the answer is always no. The teams that have the assets to offer a big name needs them more than just one player

Vancouver could be on the verge of being a real franchise team, At this stage and the potential that is there, I don't think they would entertain such a ridiculous thought, but then again...

It would be dumb for Jarmo to dish out sheets. Columbus will definitely be a lottery team the next two seasons.

I live how he makes big deal of picks in rounds not in 1st round in yradeds but in this 2 1sts a2nd and a 3rd nothing😂
