Shane Dawson is one of the most widely discussed YouTubers ever. But on top of his controversies, Shane is known for having lasted longer than almost any other YouTuber. From "ShaneDawsonTV" to "Shane" and "Not Cool", Dawson almost seems to mastered making videos of every genre you can imagine. But... how?

This video is an analysis of Shane Dawson's long-lasting career and ability to constantly rebrand his content/image.

Jimmy Robins (yeah, that's me) makes comedic commentary videos about overanalyzing media. If you like what you see, please consider subscribing or maybe even checking out a membership. Thanks!

Imagine being a first time filmmaker, having the opportunity for ZACHARY FUCKING QUINTO to give you notes on your script and help guide you through the filmmaking process, and you think you're better than him. Shane is truly an anomaly.

His attempt to rebrand himself as a caring empathetic softboi after more than a decade of racist and just deplorable behavior has always been so ironic to me

There's no way DreamWorks didn't base rumplestiltskin off of his looks bro

zachary quinto may be the main villain in Heroes, but he's the hero who got shane dawson blacklisted from hollywood.

i got in soo much trouble when i was liiike ~8, because my grandma was staying at the house & she caught me watching one of shane’s shanaynay sketches in the middle of the night. she laid into me talking about how she couldn’t believe i was entertaining myself with racist caricatures. At the time i was miffed, partly because i was kinda hate watching, even at that age i didn’t find him very funny. now i think about that all the time, especially when people tell me “oh you know how grandparents are🙄” in reference to their grandma being some kind of bigot. I feel strangely grateful for that humiliating moment because i look back on it as an example of how hard my grandma rode for her principles. i mean, it was maybe 1 AM. she had woken up to get a glass of water. she was barely awake and still took the time to lecture the shit out of me on how this was not okay. miss you gran, i’m sure you’d be beyond pissed that i think of you whenever i hear about shane dawson X

His out of touch aggressive behavior when he was on the chair is absolutely ridiculous. He kept saying “I want your opinion, not people who won’t like it’s opinion” I’m paraphrasing but it’s sad he won and took away someone else’s opportunity to come into an extremely difficult job market and show the world their talent.

zachary quinto is fcking hilarious. he just did not like shane in any way, shape, or form, and he made that known.

Goddamn Shane. Literally the FIRST THING they told us in Acting School was 'be nice to everyone and be reliable'. What a huge fumble.

The Chair is a great concept as a show and I’m sad they never continued it, but I’m pretty convinced it’s because their experience with Shane Dawson single-handedly killed the whole thing and they never want to risk working with someone like him ever again

Going to make a huge claim here,
But his behaviour in his first directing role paired with his creepy inner world would have created devastating situations in the future had he found success. He would have joined the dark side of Hollywood 100%

Despite him being "cancelled", I still feel like Shane Dawson doesn't get nearly enough criticism

The early youtube days were so wild. I found shane in 2009/2010 has a child and I can’t believe what I used to watch

Dude Zachary Quinto was on fucking AHS which has a LOT of violent, shocking, and borderline offensive shit in it drawing the line at Not Cool tells me everything I need to know about the movie. At least AHS is funny.

if my first foray into hollywood ended with zachary quinto hating me so much that he went on record saying i made him angry and refused to be associated with me... i'd have to crawl into a hole and die, i'd be so embarrassed.

Only halfway through the video but wanted to say this - Shane should’ve been disqualified & replaced in The Chair. He wasn’t willing to do the assignment point blank. He was supposed to be a DIRECTOR not writer & actor. Such a cool concept for a show, sad to see the opportunity wasted.

dude is just desperate to stay relevant, how's that working for him now

That clip of Mr. Beast saying he’s planning on making videos for the rest of his life tho…spoke too soon. 😬

Shane’s whole arc is the fat kid who becomes skinny and wants to get revenge on everyone. He is perpetually in a 2003 comedy and it’s sad

Shane Dawson's real talent is aging 15 years in only 5.

EDIT: Ok, so 30 years in almost 15 😱

When the controversy around his movie started coming out I could not believe my eyes or ears.
The ego on this guy, until recently he was making mediocre spoof videos and he seemed to think of himself as Spielberg.
For someone who talked so much about how that was a dream came true and a great opportunity he acted like it was just a matter of time and the industry owed him the chance.
