Born at the end of the "Fuck around" era, forced to live through the "find out" era.

He won the popular vote. THE POPULAR VOTE. Republicans don't DO that.

Voters were mad about grocery prices so in response we're destroying health care, education, and human rights. Welcome to costco, we love you...

Hahahaha. "If our elections were determined by the popular vote, Republicans wouldn't win."

I'm just dumbfounded. Like in 2016 he only won because of the electoral collage, people not knowing how bad he would really be, and Hilary Clinton being a horrible candidate.
Somehow, he attempted a coup, amped up on the racism, authoritarian rhetoric, started sundowning hard, had a first term with a new scandal every day, completely botched covid, project 2025, overturning of roe and ran one of the dysfunctional campaigns I've ever had his best turnout in the 3 elections he ran. There is no other way to put it. America is a fascist nation. The people saw everything I mentioned. There was no hiding his intentions. And they said "yes please, give me more of that"

As an european it feels like watching a nuke go off and you know that once you see the explosion, the shockwave is only few minutes behind.

This is what happens when you spend your entire life in an echochamber.
Complete disconnect from reality.

Its not enough that she lost the Electoral vote, but the fact that she somehow also lost the popular vote .... like even Hillary Clinton managed that

I went to bed so optimistic and woke up depressed as heck. We live in the darkest timeline.

one thing i learned in this election is to never believe polls. I should've learned in 2016 but 2020 gave me hope. never again.

This is horrendous. The senate is also Republican. House could also go Republican. Supreme Court now is out of control. This is horrible.

I really think the "uhh but the economy was good when Trump was in office" line of thinking won him the vote. Thats it. People take the propaganda and vote to have groceries cost less.

I don't want to sound selfish, I'm pretty much dead now. I have stage 5 kidney failure and with the dumb orange bafoon back in office, he's going to cut me from my insurance AGAIN! And without the $4000 to pay for my treatments, I'll be dead within the next few months.

I'm from Ghana and I can just feel cold sweat running down my neck. For the past few years, Christian nationalists in Ghana (who have received a lot of support from US evangelicals) have only been held back from unleashing hell on queer folks by the threat of an lgbt friendly superpower putting sanctions on our politicians.

But now it's all gone. I'm masc gay so I can blend in, but my heart is bleeding for other queer folk.

All these Trump supporters being like "nothing will happen", yeah, as long as Trump doesn't keep his promises. You want Trump to keep his promises though, why else would you vote for him? Don't be stupid, we've heard the speeches.

I think the biggest effect this outcome has on me is that it's permanently damaged my opinion on the American people as a whole. I'm not as concerned right now about individual policies or actions that Trump will do yet; that will come later. I'm more concerned about Americans I may potentially come into contact with. Because to me, Trump himself was just a bit of a clown on his own with potential to do awful harm, but not representative of the American people at large. I could have at least had some faith in that before this result.

The people under Trump who support him, who prop him up; *they* are the ones who really reflected a picture of what people on the right are like, and are who really disturbed me. The influential people, from corrupt officials, to racist comedians, to misogynist content creators... From dishonest self-serving billionaires to hateful conservative rural folk. With the outcome of this election (a popular vote) those people are now the ones that paint a picture of the US to me. The new mental image that a "majority" of Americans are a vessel of support for hateful rhetorics... I simply cannot look fondly on America's population as I once might have.
