Mega Man X DiVE Offline has been released on Steam, and people wondered what my thoughts were. So I figured, why not? I bought the game and gave it a whirl to see how my experience changed.

- You can set the directional controls to the dpad.
- The armor Mega Man uses in the game comes from Mega Man 7, not 6. The one from 6 was different

Was super curious about this game so I'm glad you covered it. I'll probably wait for a sale because yeah I'm not spending 30 bones on a previously free game.

I'm not sure why you havent been able to use your D-Pad for this game. I've been using the 8BitDo SN30 Pro and mapping the D-Pad for movement was easy, but that just might be a Steam issue.

As for X DiVE i really enjoy rhe amount of content on offer. I live for min/maxing so games like this where i can hunt for power boosts in a dozen different menus can feel pretty satisfying, topped off with some pretty accurate Mega Man X gameplay once you fiddle with a few of the settings. I'd definitely say its worth the $30.

I can understand why you initially didn't plan on doing a follow-up video to the original review, but I'm really happy you made this because I'm always curious to see how much a game can recover with a few simple changes to it. Looking forward to your big Mega Man project in two weeks!

I finished the game with no problem other than the random crashes that occur. If u finished the game there is a teaser of a possible sequel or a new megaman x game entirely which is something I'm actually excited for

Honestly, I want to buy this game at full price just to support the business model they're going for. I've wanted an option to pay a premium to cut out scummy F2P mechanics for years. The reason companies don't do this is because its a huge risk to profitability. Sure, people like me can finally be incentivized to buy a copy, but so can the whales. If you give someone that was gonna spend $300 on the game, the option to get everything they want for just $30, that's a HUGE loss in revenue. The only way it can be made worthwhile is with a huge boost in sales at its highest profit margin

There was a sale today with the two BAttle Network collections for 37$, which means we got this game for 9.89! What a steal!

Well J, firstly fair review. I mean it's not the greatest game but tbh, it's something I've always wanted, a game where I can play as just about anyone in the series I can think of lol. It would've been more ideal if we could play in more stages throughout the franchise, and longer more complete stages too to compliment a pc experience. Speaking of the main series tho, there's actually a way to make the game play more like the traditional experience. Firstly, you have to load into a level (I don't know why these options aren't in the main menu too), and once you get control of the character you'll see a pause button at the top left of the screen. Press it and scroll down, you'll see toggles to switch off things like auto aim, give you precise jump, etc.

Also, the modders have put together some interesting content for the game. They restored the dmc stuff, and have made a lot of other character playable, and added a ton of skins.

You can use the d-pad for movement; you just need to remap it like everything else (except the manual aim). Also, I should mention since it looks like you have Precise Jump off in your video, if you turn that on you'll jump based on how you long you hold the button like you would in any other Megaman game. As far as balance, coming into this from the Online version, I think they did a really good job of it. Throughout story mode, I never felt too over or under powered, and didn't have to really go grind somewhere else to keep playing. So I think that them cutting the tutorials for the upgrade systems is probably where our play experiences differed so much.

I really wish they'd do this with a few other games. Relic keeper, Symphogear XD, and Opera Omnia were such awesome games.

All it needs now is:
Weapon layered skins, example arm cannon getting a megaman Zero buster skin. (Better if aplied on all skins)
Maxed rank weapons or if leveled at lv.100 becomes layered weapon.
Stage creator mode
Boss survival mode
Few extra new bosses
And most X's elf war skin For S rank hunter X. Even if it was a 10 buck dlc I would buy the heck out of it.

After acquiring an... *ahem* "free trial" of the mobile version, I was impressed by how they had made it possible to get everything without gacha mechanics and even allowed you to choose what event stages you wanted to play, so I eventually uninstalled it and held off until I could pay the $30 for the game on Google Play Store in the hopes of encouraging other F2P mobile gacha game devs to adopt this practice themselves.

Right now the game is only $9.89 on Android. If you have an Android handheld or phone this is the BEST time to buy and play this game. This game is perfect for handheld/phone.

X DiVE was Capcom's attempt at a Megaman gacha game, which is honestly a good thing considering the lore and roster they already have. This game has all the issues a gacha game will have, like micro-transactions and simple repetitive gameplay, but that's not what's wrong with the game.

What keeps people interested in gacha games is a good story, and limited time events that bring something fresh every once in a while as well as allow the player to farm rare items efficiently, both of which XDiVE failed to do. The very few events I've played through were special stages that just tweaked enemy HP and damage with each difficulty level while not being rewarding enough to keep me engaged, and the story... well, you've said it yourself, it's basic and serves as an excuse to mix all Megaman games. But my biggest issue with the game is how your power depends on how many characters you unlock, so you end up actually having to run the gachatron to make progress.
It also means that whenever you unlock a new character it'll already be as strong as the rest, which is not something I like, though I get that people don't necessarily want to grind for every character they want to use. I just think it makes chosing a character more important, and forces you to actually play as that character before you can tackle high level content.

I may still buy it someday depending on how they handle power creep. But right now it's just too expensive considering what it has to offer...

I had a lot of fun with the online version and got all my favorite characters, even the Dante and Vergil X and Zero, they were so cool. Now I don't want the offline version because I don't know if things would carry over.
