College Football Playoff bubble talk is here as the season has turned to November. With the first edition of the CFP rankings released this past week we took time on Josh Pate's College Football Show Ep 578 to scope things out. What do Indiana and BYU need to do to make it in? Will we see Ohio State overtake Oregon? Is Alabama vs LSU really an elimination game? What about Kansas State and Iowa State? Josh also touches on Texas A&M and Penn State. You do realize if army goes undefeated that means they beat Notre Dame

I'm okay with the 12 team playoff but It's funny that people thought it would make picking teams easier. 😂

We all knew - I guess we did - that adding more teams to the playoffs would only shift the controversies to the fringes of a larger group of teams.

So i guess what you're saying is that records don't matter. Maybe we should just select the play-off teams before the season even starts.

Army likely will lose their next game vs Notre Dame but if they win and stay undefeated then they absolutely will be in the playoff.

And people thought the four-team playoff system was crazy!!! This is going to create a lot of conflict about who gets in, and who is left

If this playoff sticks around for awhile, it’s going to be very weird to routinely have national champions who aren’t the champions of their own conference.

SEC needs more in conference game and less FCS scheduled games.

Josh, thank you for being the first media rep to say it. I’ve been telling everyone since last Tuesday that the first ranking sets the precedent and their ranking of Boise at 12 sets the precedent that if someone other than BYU wins the Big 12, it flips the bracket on its head.

I am loving the NIL because it is bringing balance across college football. All the top players are not heading to the SEC anymore and I love it, it makes for better competition Dawg vs Dawg.!! And I am loving the 12 team playoffs but it will be even better if it changes to a 16 team playoffs.!!

Rank sec high early on so then when they beat up on each other they have "quality wins and quality loses" so ridiculous.

South Carolina would be a better 2 loss team than anyone if refs haven’t stolen that game against LSU.

I don’t see how Alabama and A&M would play in Atlanta if Tennessee would own the tie breaker over Alabama if Tennessee ended up with 2 conference loses

Good. Glad the new reality is here. The SEC and B10 are trying to consolidate power at a time the player market is not letting them. NIL and the portal are great field levelers. We see it already. And it’s only just beginning.

My prediction is that three loss sec teams get in and it becomes a joke.

Also, the thought of an SEC team playing up north in December. BRING IT!

The regular season is a play-off that works itself out. This isn’t chaos theory. A late season loss is catastrophic.

I agree with this 100%.
'Best teams' is still a factor so long as you have vote based rankings, and Big 10 and SEC will get all of the 'non champ slots'.

I'm not saying that the SEC is colluding to get as many of their teams into the new 12-team Playoff as possible, but if they were, this is exactly what it would look like🤷‍♂️
