INSPECTING + CLEANING EBAY FILM CAMERA | Minolta SRT 200

In this video I share how I inspect and clean a 35mm film camera I bought on EBAY. The film camera I purchased was a Minolta SRT 200. You'll find out what products I use for my cleaning and what I look for while inspecting to make sure the 35mm film camera I bought is functioning.

Make sure to check back for the last installment from the last of the How to Boss Ebay series.

About this channel:

Here on my channel I explore 35mm film photography, street photography, portrait photography, cheap photography, bts photography, black and white photography, color negative film photography, medium format photography, medium format cameras, and photography improvement, much more.

I'm also team Olympus Om-1 and Om-4 at the moment. However, I still use and explore other cameras. Street photography cameras are my jam.

I hope you'll join me on my photo journey 'Subscribe' to my channel.

I went through about 20 Qtips doing a proper deep clean of the SRT I bought on eBay a few weeks ago. Even went as far as buying a little white paint stick to revive the faded numbers on the lens, looks fantastic now, just like yours!

Nice camera! Good video.
I fixed a lens with a stuck aperature (Konica 28mm f2.8), turned out it was just a spring that got loose.
A lot of these old lenses are easy to fix. Sure you can get a new one. But if it's sent from across the world?
Greets from Holland.

What was the solution in the spray bottle? So, glad I found your video. I just bought a Canon Ae-1 Program and I'm praying that it will work. The camera looked in great condition from the photos, but this is my first big purchase on a used item, so my nerves are a little bad. 😅

Hi Talya,
Awesome vid.
What alcohol are you using to clean/what's the best kind?
:)

What soap do you recommend that is safe? Any ingredients to avoid that would harm or fade the finish? Also, what percentage of alcohol? Thanks!

Does the light meter only works with a good battery? I just found my dads srt200, just ordered batteries.

You just doubled the value of your purchase. Can I drop my cameras off to be cleaned? 😁

YP, you are right about wrinkles. That's the sign that shutter will soon disintegrate itself. Recently I stumbled upon a very nice camera, Olympus OM4, from outside in almost mint condition, for just 100 EUR, but just as I opened the camera I saw the shutter that looked like elephant skin. Pass...

I've heard that you're never supposed to use lens cleaner? Have you heard anything about that?
