In this edition of Tone Tips, I look at dialing in a classic blues and blues rock tone. This is how I run my amps and is the way most classic players do as well. This approach really takes advantage of the amp’s natural tone and I believe provides a full sonic palate in which to work from.

Another great video Jeff. I love how you explain things while demonstrating such great results. Re: setting the amp tone controls: one technique that might work well is to turn the knobs up until they just start "doing their thing". For example, start turning treble up, for a while, nothing much happens. At some point it starts to make a real difference, beyond which again not much changes. That's the sweet spot where the control is its most dynamic and will give a good tone and feel.

Great video.. a great show of just how much gain these classic rock bands didn’t use back in the early 70’s.

This is exactly the tone I’ve been hunting for. I have the 1987x 50w plexi head and 2x12 cab. The volume is just unmanageable. Of course it sounds great cranked up but ear splitting. Tried a lot of stuff (hotplates) but just kills it. My question is where is the signal going after the ox box? Your getting this fantastic tone at what appears to be bedroom volumes. Are going into a cab? Or? Help...

Turning down the volume doesn't seems to affect the treeble. Are the.gibsons equipped with «treeble bleed» equivalent factory spec?

I have a Fender Twin and a Strat. How much tone am I missing out on by having to keep the volume real low? I have been looking at the Ox for a while now.
