How the US Completely Overpowered Iraq In Only 100 Hours

The Persian Gulf War, also known as the Gulf War or Operation Desert Storm, often takes a back seat in public memory compared to more recent and drawn-out conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Could this be attributed to the remarkably short duration of the entire ground invasion, which concluded with the near-total decimation of the Iraqi army in just four days?

Another equally significant, or perhaps more intriguing question arises: What events unfolded in the weeks leading up to the Desert Storm ground offensive that prompted even a notorious hardcase like Saddam Hussein to throw in the towel so swiftly?

In this video our military experts dive into the factors that enabled U.S.-led coalition forces to swiftly overpower the Iraqi army, consisting of nearly half a million soldiers, within approximately 100 hours, while sustaining fewer than 300 total casualties themselves.

Never forget the americans did this with a logistics system spanning the entire globe. Russians ran out of gas 400 miles from their border.

In fairness to Iraq the U.S. Studied them for 20 years and knew everything, everything about them. Everything. No chance.

One thing that is usually overlooked was that during the gulf war the United States truly had expert leadership in place at all levels.

I remember this war playing out on the evening news. It was stunning to see in real time how quickly Iraq collapsed. The differences in technology and capabilities between the coalition forces and the Iraqi forces was just so immense that it felt like the Iraqis might as well just be using muskets and black powder cannons.

What's even more impressive was the fact that Iraq was thousands of miles away requiring U.S. to ship it's entire offensive platform halfway across the planet. Russia couldn't move a convoy 100 miles from the Belarus border, across flat lands, surprising literally every military analyst who predicted that Kyiv would fall within days.

A brit bought an iraqi tank a few years ago. When he got it to the UK and stripped it down, he found gold bars hidden in the fuel tank. The silly man gave it to the police.

From the same place that gave us quotes such as "never fight a land war in Asia", "never invade Russia in the winter", I give you "never fight a pitched battle against America".

It’s rather fascinating how the coalition took on an army of around 500, 000 personnel, the 4th largest army at the time, and sustained less than 300 casualties during the process, also take into consideration that Iraq had access to Scud Missiles, the worlds fastest interceptor, the MiG-25, and many Soviet-era tanks and armored vehicles.

The US military really started to dominate in the 90s. The 50's-70's everyone was figuring out radar and jet propulsion and guided missile tech and the US and the Soviets were relatively even fighting proxy wars with relatively similar gear and tech with fluctuations. In the 90's the gulf really took off with the internet and digital age and our ability to process information and boost R and D speeding everything up and now we have such deep and practical expertise in so many areas the gap keeps growing. I mean even on the horizon the 6th gen fighter with loyal wingman, the SR 72, laser tech, Rapid Dragon, our extensive reach.. it's nearing a point where you're either part of the trading order everyone seems to like or you're against it and now the US has so many allies in so many regions it's unlikely we'll actually need to fight. Hostile actors will pop off in their neighborhood and we'll make sure they lose by supporting their neighbors.

Idk why the Highway of Death gets such a bad rap. Retreating troops are valid military targets. The Iraqis chose to retreat instead of surrendering.

It's just so damn amazing how they did the logistics, especially now that we can see the methods a little better on youtube

I watched this after watching the recent Afghanistan video on Infographics; it’s like the algorithm knew what I needed after that

The lesson to be learned here is that in order to be effective in battle, you must have the logistics to support your army, and proper training of your troops. Plus, you must have a good corps of Non-Commissioned Officers to lead your junior troops. Also, for the love of whatever god you may believe in, give those NCO's and junior officers the training to act on their own on the battlefield. Having to wait for orders from higher headquarters based on what is happening on the ground right in front of the troops is not going to win you battles.

The US Ambassador to the UN at the time Resolution 660 was passed was Thomas Pickering, a Republican. So why are you showing footage of John Kerry (a Democrat) at the UN under a caption reading “Resolution 660, ” making it appear that Kerry had a role in that resolution? The Kerry footage you are using likely comes from his tenure as Secretary of State, which didn’t even start until around 23 years later. You also showed Kerry In connection with Resolution 678.

If you can’t get this kind of basic stuff right, why should anyone trust the veracity of this video, or reality any of your videos?
