Same Trainers she wore in the 200m this year when she won vs many notable US sprinters, including Gabby Thomas.

To run 49.11 in trainers with no real competition and run faster than the 'official' diamond league race at the meeting was a sign of things to come in 2025. My money is on a win in the 400 flat at the Tokyo world championship in a world record time 🎉

Why on earth did the broadcast have the Men’s WL and MR on the screen?

When I pray at night, I ask for Sydney's composure. She's amazing

She's definitely wearing spikes.. New Balance MD-X. Still an amazing performance in sub-optimal weather though!

Generational talent. I enjoy every race she’s in.

The fact that Sydney's winning time (49.11) would have beaten Paulino in the actual Diamond League final (49.45) is more reason for her to run the open 400m. Great races from both women, and strong times considering the weather conditions.

SML ALWAYS runs through the tape and NEVER tries to disrespect her competition. She’s my kind of athlete. 😊

Sydney's world record at the Olympics would have won this race (the conditions were different but still...). Let that sink in.

Running 49.11 in any race is impressive. Nothing she does surprises me anymore She's just so good. Looking forward to see how she goes in the 200m

Fans just want a full season of Syd & Femke in the flat 400m vs Paulino (48.17 PB & unbeaten this yr), Naser, Shaunae, Pryce, Kaczmarek, Adeleke etc. Naser DQ'd for running in Paulino's lane :)

Sydney and Paulino in difference races under same bad weather condition:

Sydney:49:11
Paulino: 49:45

Sydney reminds me of that guy from Turkey who won the silver medal in pistol looking like he just waltzed in off the street, a total hit man. She kept her long pants on and didn't appear to break a sweat.

2:37 trainers? it's no doubt a superspike. it's not the MD-X V3's released bc it's missing the grey accent on the heel outside which isn't apart of the available colorway. More than likely a variant of the V3 with seemingly the same adjustable spike mechanism blending pacer & track day rides. Bol has posted pics of unreleased variants of the MD-Xs back in May so I know they have access to a lot of upstream tech this olympic cycle. seems to track given the changing weather conditions NB would ensure they keep their highest performing athlete healthy.

But obviously they aren't trainers lol.

CORRECTION: Those are NOT “trainers”… those ARE spikes! You can see the rigid soles with toes pointing up when she’s pacing, and you can see several spike models with heels, just like those on NB site 😏

Her performance was very impressive, but this was the B race. The 400m A race was run later in the meet. This is why she won by such a large margin. But her time was also faster than the winner in the A race 😂

With nothing really at stake, other than personal pride and reputation, I think Sydney played if safe to avoid injury. She still ran a very respectable time and no doubt, collected a nice appearance fee. As predicted, the conditions were not ideal for setting a record time, so I think Sydney did the right thing.

Her time would have won the Diamond Finals one race later. And with it being under 60 degress, no one was going to run a PR. She should switch to 400 and 200 combo next year. Nothing left to prove at 400 hurdles (unless she really wants to break the 50 second barrier). Can't wait to see her 200 tomorrow and how she does in the Grand Slam track events in 2025.
