+1 ATK and Retaliate is also huge, massive gains for its cost.

I used my break at work the other day just to watch this video. I am so excited for Nightcrawler. He's always been one of my favorite X-Men, and if I can't have Beast, I'm glad I at least have Nightcrawler. I love that they they merged his cutlasses into one card but made it essentially act like two cards, with the double restriction, two stat buffs, and retaliate. Kind of makes me think of what Drax's knives would have looked like as one card. Definitely streamlines his deck and gives one card spot to add something else to his kit, which I am absolutely here for. And it's always a good day to see new cards added to Protection that make you immediately start mentally deck building. I am super excited to try out the much more viable "kill things during the villain phase" archetype due to Change of Fortune coming out so you have things to do during your actual turn as well. As much as I like smacking the villain back during his turn, it always felt kind of bad when it was finally your turn and you didn't have cards to play (or couldn't afford what you had) because you played them all during his turn.

Holy cow, those Cutlasses are SICK! That is SO MUCH VALUE - getting Retaliate and +1 Defense on a hero whose kit already synergizes so well with defending is really amazing. I love it! I think Riposte is an awesome addition as well, Protection has long been my favorite aspect, and I love that we are getting a new Archetype in which to explore.

Jocasta is going to be great with him. She can hold onto those protection events to trigger at the right time with Change of Fortune. His cutlasses look incredible. That is a mulligan hard for this card.

Man, I was hoping he would get his sword... and man... it rocks. I can see why it counts as two restricted keywords. That's a lot of bonuses for one upgrade at cost 2. Also I've never been a huge fan of Protection, but I'm liking it more as more cards are released that enhance a more "Aggression" playstyle in Protection ;)

So exciting! I don’t usually preorder but Nightcrawler got the special treatment! Love the character and loving all the cards.

I agree that hopefully we see a restricted card in Protection! Maybe something with retaliate??

I was of course expecting to see cards for Kurt's swords and tail...but holy smokes! Those are amazing! 4 Defense + Retaliate? Yowza!

If you have flow like water, electrostatic armour and Nightcrawler's swords on the table when you play Riposte you could be doing 6 damage back to the villain. Nightcrawler is looking so fun and interesting

Nightcrawler is my favourite X-Man and after Iceman and Jubilee I was a little worried that his design wouldn’t quite come together. With the cards revealed the last few days I'm not worried anymore.

And all these new Protection cards also have me stoked! Protection is my favourite aspect but it has felt a little stale lately, so getting a new archetype feels great.

Really stoked for Nightcrawler. He's one of my favorite mutuants, and his kit is shaping up to be really fun. I also love protection and this pack is bringing lots of cool new toys to play with!

One important difference I see between Riposte and Preemptive Strike is that you can play Preemptive Strike after you reveal the boost card, where with Riposte you have to play it when you defend and therefore you don't get to see the boost card. For me that makes them about equally strong!
