Ok so basically it starts with the motherboard. We will assume the computer is fully assembled and working, and follows the conventonal x86+ATX specs. There is a signal line on pin 15 of the big ATX connector that is pulled high when you press the power button. This triggers the power supply to turn on the other power lines. Then the power supply triggers pin 8 on the connector to signify that the outputs have stabilized. The CPU then starts executing at an address 16 bytes before the highest address available where there will be a jump instruction to wherever the actual boot code is located is located. Often the boot code is compressed so it extracts itself to RAM, and then the POST process begins. It checks that the CPU Registers are ok. Then it checks the boot code itself for issues, some other random things like the chipset, the RAM, then it launches whatever UEFI sytem you have running. The UEFI will initialize all the other components of your system like PCIe and SATA. It will then look for bootable partitons on the drives it finds and will run whatever EFI program your OS uses. At this point things can vary so I'm not going to go further
