Replace DeWalt 14.4 XRP Battery with Lithium Ion

Looking into that myself. Caution, if you want to convert, DeWalt has sales on occasion for a drill, 2 20v LiPo batteries, and a charger for $99. If you like your chuck, you can transfer it to the new drill. It's sad, but it's cheaper to throw a good DeWalt drill with bad batteries away and get a new 20v max kit.

How has this battery held up? Thinking of going this route as I have that same drill and a older dewalt trim saw I’d like to use that replacement battery with.

They have a NIMH battery which is better than the original Nicad, plus can be used with the original charger.
