Actually, making money by selling in-game stuff is not new. Players have been doing that in third-party marketplaces which is almost always against the games' Terms of Service. What's new is Web3 game developers allow players to trade in-game stuff for real money. Granted, blockchain is not needed for this (debatable), but Web2 games are still against players trading in-game stuff for real money.

The truth is, allowing in-game items to be traded in the free market is better for video game consumers. Rather than let game devs set the price of in-game items, why not let players compete to set the price themselves in the free market? Competition is good for the real-world economy, it is the same for game economies.

Is funny that how putting the crypto into art immediately hype the art world. Common sense tells you that this is just a demand hype which has no intrinsic value at all. If artiste are meant to stave they are meant to stave, you can't add crypto as a medium and all of the sudden their work is 10 to 100x more value worth.
