I like how direct and succinct she is. I also love how she is focused on just teaching facts without an agenda to destroy someone's faith. Best statement she made, "I am not the thought police." I want to be policing other people's thoughts and beliefs way less until I arrive at not caring at all what people believe. I also appreciate her honesty about Archaeology when she admitted it is not an objective science but is all about interpretation. Not like we didn't know there were biases and dogma in scholarship, she just called it out as true.

It's a chicken and egg situation. There are many places in Britain with the name "Merlin" or "Camelot" and some are ancient settlements, but that doesn't mean it was Arthur's Camelot or there was a real person name Merlin, it meant that the locals wanted to associate the area with Camelot. The Truth is Romans were quite thorough when it came to taxes and who paid what, and there is no mention of Nazareth. It could be simply that he wasn't a Nazirite as in the old testament prophecy so they changed it to Nazorean (which is only one letter off in Greek) and invented a place called Nazareth.

I find her response to the question of Nazareth existing at the time of Jesus to be rather unsatisfying. I don't think anyone really expects to unearth a "Welcome to Nazareth" sign erected by the local Lions Club and inscribed with "founded 127 B.C. and I find her implication that skeptics would expect such is rather condescending. She then goes on to discuss other cities that there is no records of names until late, but do show signs of continuous inhabitation and therefore no one doubts the city existed long before any name showed up in recorded history, but suspiciously she fails to mention any evidence of continuous occupation in Nazareth, which is the very point made by the skeptics who doubt a Nazareth contemporary with Jesus. It seems rather suspicious that she would use the example Jerusalem to make her point but NOT make a direct comparison of the archeological evidence of continuous inhabitation of both.

The arguments that I have heard make the point that the only archeological finds from the first century in the area of what is now Nazareth is a well and some small dwelling more typical of a rural settlement, not a town or a city as described in the Bible. It seems it would have been easy for her to simply show the archeological evidence of habitation and set the matter to rest. Instead she skirts the issue and simply points to other sites to make her point. Maybe she discusses such evidence in her lecture or publication, but the points she attempts to make here are rather unconvincing.

Hello, I have written to you several times and I am still waiting for a response to my question to you about, will you ever bring on a guest who will talk about the complete change of the original Hebrew Texts that took place at the 6th - 7th century redaction (translation). This redaction changed meanings of words, added others and brought into the Texts a theology of monotheism that was never there in the original texts. This change fostered in the control and power grab of the masses through this man made dogma of the Scribes and the then theologians of that time. This later was again translated called the Greek Septuagint around 270 b.c. My point is I and many others now would like to here from those who studied and work on the ancient Hebrew to talk about those changes and what it means. Words like Elohim, Yahweh, Nephilim and watchers. There aren't many who can talk about this in a recognized scholastic way. Thank you.

I was visiting the "Church of the Holy Sepulchre" in Jerusalem in 1976 when it first struck me as suspicious that perhaps the only member of the Sanhedrin who was sympathetic to Jesus should just HAPPEN to own a family tomb near the place where Jesus was crucified! Rushing back to where I was staying, I examined all four NT gospels and saw that ONLY Matthew says the tomb belonged to Joseph of Arimathea, a claim not made by the other two synoptics, while John 19:41-42 says it was simply a nearby tomb that Joseph hastily borrowed because of the coming Sabbath.
~~No wonder the Magdalene thought the body had been stolen.
