Could USB-C create a future where we really can use just one charger for everything - AND power things up as quickly as possible?

2024, all devices lived in harmony. But everything changed when USB-D attacked.

Every time there's a new spec I get excited about the engineering but angrier at the naming scheme. It could not have been made more convoluted for enthusiasts and laypeople alike.

Can't wait to finally get some USB 4 USB-C 2.1 PD 3.1 240w cables in! SUCH A CATCHY NAME.

I just loved how Anthony is overtime becoming more and more comfortable on front of camera. Big respect to LMG

The USB consortium really needs to fix their naming scheme.. it's utterly rediculous.

That will be very nice when it comes to powering smaller PoE switches that require 48v and maybe even 24v industrial switches and equipment.

I wanna remind everyone that Apple told the EU, that relying on USB-C will block innovation :D

Anthony, how do you know that a universal laptop charger won't fit every laptop? 1:13 You said to ask. ☺️ Beguile us with your tales and misadventures!

USB C is amazing. The hub I have at work has a single usb-c that goes into the laptop. It charges it, provides internet, connects peripherals, and outputs display for 2 monitors. All on one cable

I love USB C, but since working at a Desktop Support job at my university, I have seen so many laptops that needed to have their system board replaced because the USB C ports got worn out/ loosened from the contacts on the pcb, I just wish it was more durable because that can be a costly repair depending on what repair avenues are available to you. If this ever happened on a MacBook, they'd just tell you to either get a new computer or do an expensive af repair.

Make sure to have your USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type C 2.1 with Power Delivery 3.1 always correctly marked, so you wont confuse it with other similar cables.

It's been 2 years and I still haven't seen any 240W usb-c chargers

I love usb-c to pieces but the fact old cables will be indistinguishable from new ones is troubling. They need to come up with something besides package logos to set these apart. I don't have a warehouse of type c cables in packages floating around for when I'm not sure of an open one I can just pull out a packaged one.

There needs to be a solution to this madness.

I really like these “Anthony sessions” - specifically his presentation style and knowledge. Glad he’s out there gathering, summarizing and presenting information on topics I care about.

I'm looking forward to this. My current laptop takes a 230W power adapter and I've got a SlimQ after-market adapter to do it. Yet I'd love to be able to use USB-C in my next laptop for just that "universal" sort of thing.
Thanks for all the reliable and in-depth information.

Imagine we can put an extra 8 pin in the GPU and the thunderbolt cable can also power the monitor as well. And if you use it with something that doesn't have a powered USB/thunderbolt port, it can have an optional power cable
