The D8K engine is incredibly quiet and smooth. The Volvo bus with this engine is one of Australia's most common bus models, so people are pretty familiar with this sound.

If the D7E is a smooth running engine, the D8K is even quieter, more than the MAN D0836.
Here in Chile is known only for the urban B8RLEs used for Santiago's Red system, only with Voith gearboxes, so, this video is pleasant to hear that Volvo engine without the classical 'box whine.
