Drones will Fly-Away if: Compass calibration not correct or not done. GPS - insufficient satellites. Or if user disables GPS. When you mentioned it flew away with the wind, that is the classic sign of there being no GPS or Compass lock. A drone the size of the Karma can't float away in the wind, it would tip over and crash first. The good thing is that your controller has your flight logs in it (GoPro will eventually tell you how to access them & send them to them). The flight logs will reveal exactly what went wrong. I'm pretty certain from your description, the Karma either had a bad compass calibration or the GPS became disabled. All drones react the same way (for the most part), so your incident is not uncommon. Hopefully everything works out in your favour and they can send you a replacment (no cost).

Nice unboxing! Not sure why Karma and Mavic keep flying away. Have seen so many people have them both fly away on them

They told us if the power is still on it should show up on the GPS screen of the controller.

Appears to be a antenna problem between the controller and the drone at this point.

IMU check, Compass check, satelite check, safe to fly check, pre-flight check, test flight check, survey the area for power stations or possible electrical interference check. Fly to Go isn't what these are about, some pre-checking is always a good way to save it.. My fourth flight my drone went off in a direction that wasn't part of my flight plan and quick return to home initiated saved the day... Hope you get it back..

Sorry to hear you lost your Karma on the first flight. Please post your pre-flight steps. Did you update and go through all the calibrations? It would be good to find out if this was the result of newbie exuberance or an actual failure of the drone. I am hoping you find it in the woods!

Use karma remote controller to locate it. Trick is to drive in the direction it flew away. Remote will re-establish signal.

you can always look at the bright side of thing. You lost the karma drone but you still have your favorite part of the karma drone package the remote..

As far I saw, the gopro Karma has a really bad flight controller. I don't think it's necessary your fault (if you calibrated the drone etc etc.).

Well I guess by now most people interested in the GoPro Karma have done a search on YouTube for GoPro Karma Crash and found an insane number of videos of the Karma either flying away or the motors turning off in flight. GoPro better fix this fast before it adds to the financial loses the company has been having.

Instructions... we don't need them.. You could give this guy a Frisbee and he would have failed... Read the instructions next time and do the compass calibration. This is why selling to nubs is a bad idea.
