Wow, I don't know how I missed this one! For the record, I LOVE these bottom trays for critter trapping. You can put the swiffer duster unscented refills. I don't like to use them up in the hive as the bees also get tangled in them, but in the trays they fit perfectly and snag small hive beetles and the varroa destructor we're dealing with in the United States. That bottom tray design has made pest management so easy. Thank YOU!!! Thoroughly enjoyed the lesson!

You guys thought of everything! I have one flow hive and it had SHB and I had forgot about the tray underneath. Glad I looked this video up!

Been watching the Flow Hive video's for a well now. This is a good informational video I have been waiting for. Hope to have some hives in the future. And when I do, I'll give the tray to my chickens to clean up.

The hive beetle larvae are great for the chickens, don’t waste them, turn them into yummy eggs.

Hi Cedar how often should you check the tray to see if it needs cleaning please?

I just this week saw about 12ish shb larvae in my tray and 2 kicked out on the landing board. I will inspect Sunday. Can I put a few strips of swifter and in addition the pest tray managment will control the issue? TiA

I’m so glad I bought FH2 can do the medieval drowning in oil method on these buggers :)

Question
The fuzzy cloth method, can you use this in the top of the hive above a propolis trap?

How often do you change out the oil?
Weekly or monthly?

I’m a recent owner of a Flow Hive 2. I’ve begun the oil/tray method first up. Is this in and of itself a one off solution to controlling the SHB?

Thanks for the awesome video.

I just started beekeeping last year and left most of the honey for the bees. It must have been a good decision since both hives have made it through the winter. I'm really looking forward to my 2 established colonies filling the flow frames this spring.

And by the way, Happy Fist Day of spring to the Northern Hemisphere!

I have 2 flow hives and one of the dividers came loose from my tray and I was wondering if I could buy a new one?

Last year as a new bee keeper we found out that the J months in USA are SHB time, counts in June went from 50-80 a week to July where they peaked at 337 and then finally tapered off the beginning of September. I made a little beetle scooper to get the beetles out of the oil without taking too much oil.

What if you don't have a flow hive? How can you check for beetles then?

Can a Flow hive 2 tray be used in an original 2015 flow hive by putting where the core flute is?

Hi, I’ve used the tablecloth method but in the summer heat it sticks to the bottom mesh and no way could I pull out the corflute and tablecloth; ended up tearing the mesh right off the bottom, was a huge mess. I had even put some flat stones on the tablecloth fuzz so it wouldn’t come into contact with the mesh but that didn’t work either. Have a Flowhive 2 as well and the tray is brilliant. I now use container lids with oil on the corflute but there are always several dead bees when I check it and clean it. Any other suggestions? Would love a tray instead of the corflute...
