Tbh BTS have done so much to spread their culture. Before knowing them I didn't care about South Korea at all, but now because I became a fan, I started to learn more about Korean culture and history and I'm fascinated with it. If I have the opportunity I would like to visit South Korea and as you said, experiment South Korea by myself.

Thanks you guys for doing this type of videos, I always read the translations of bts' songs but with this type of videos I can understand the lyrics even better ^^

So basically BTS is saying 'let me sing you the song of my people' 🙌

BTS gonna be the group that single handedly teaches the world about Korean culture through music LOLOL

This is a reason why BTS is so different and unique than any other Kpop group. They are geniuses in their lyrics and songs and they show how proud they are of their Korean roots, they are them.

"BTS is westernised and are forgetting their Korean roots"
Me: *throws this video along with their 2018 MMA performance of IDOL in their face*

I'd be lying if I said BTS wasn't my gateway to korean media, then the culture, then starting to teach myself the language, and now my contemplation/still in debate of studying abroad in South Korea for a year. It's incredibly fascinating to me.

"Yes, I'm using BTS once again."
Oh come on David~ we would be happy to know about the things you explain so we are using you too...it's somewhat called coexisting...😉

"I'm using BTS again" well yeah, as long as BTS keeps giving iconic content then it is amazing to have videos like this where we can comprehend the real meaning of the song through having the cultural context. Thank you so much.

I really like Arirang. It impresses me how just one song can reflect history of the whole nation

I love this series so much. BTS and their rendition of this song has made me want to look more into traditional Korean culture, it seems so beautiful. Despite not being Korean myself BTS gives me a sense of pride and awe for always sticking to their roots and never forgetting where they came from.

Hi, I'm an Intl army. There's is a possibility that BTS songs we think we've understand the meaning. But actually we haven't for languages barrier. So i want to request u to explain those songs to us. I don't want to comment explaine this particular song of BTS instead I want you to look for the songs which has hidden meanings or techniques. Thank you for ur work. It's really helps me to understand their work better.

Btw, have u watched BTS's performance at MMA stage? It was mindblowing.

I've seen korean netizens found BTS' cover of the song just now and many said they wished for them to perform it at Olympics or United Nations.

*Hey David, Danny* or which of you scrolls the comments right now. Please, make a playlist at your channel for BTS' explanations. It's very useful for new armys, they will find it easier

This is so timely; BTS just did an AMAZING performance of IDOL at the MMAs that centered on Korean culture and arts <3 Also, I liked how it was explained...I never knew that there were different versions of Arirang! (including Bangtan Arirang lol) Back in college, we learned the Seoul Arirang during our Korean Language Seminar :)

must say i love when they use the Korean culture as inspiration or part of their works... like the MMA performance today the bit before Idol and that version of Idol was great (rest was great to but i really enjoyed that part specially :) )

1:38 Arirang- can convey the meaning of love, break up, self realization...
Love Yourself series anyone????
Her(DNA/Serendipity)- Love
Tear(Fake Love/Singularity)- Break up
Answer(Idol/Epiphany)- Self Realization
Could the entire LY's concept be inspired from Arirang?

You guys are doing such a good job in helping take k-pop fans “over the hill” in understanding the cultural roots of the music and visuals of contemporary pop culture. I hope you’re being recognized and supported for your efforts by your country’s ministry of culture—it’s as important as, say, BTS promoting Seoul tourism.
