This season we are celebrating 50 years of memories at Munn Ice Arena, the home of Michigan State Hockey.

When it opened in 1974, Munn was considered one of the premier collegiate hockey arenas in the nation—a reputation that still holds strong today. With its electric atmosphere and modern enhancements, Munn Ice Arena continues to stand among the top hockey venues in the country.

I was 7 when my father’s season tickets were switched from Dem Hall to the brand new Munn Arena. Great memories!

I am so glad MSU hockey is back. All my time at MSU students fought to get tickets for Hockey. We were always extremely competitive. MSU should always be a top 10 hockey program.

WOW, this sure brought back memories. I was a freshman at MSU the fall of 1974.😊

My strongest memory of Munn is also my stupidest. It was near the end of the CCHA season and we were playing Bowling Green and the winner would take the title. By the middle of the 2nd period, we were down 4 to 1. My friend and I had smuggled in a few bottles of schnapps, and started slamming the stuff, figuring we were doomed. The next morning, I didn't even remember the end of the game, but back then, WKAR replayed every hockey game the next day and I got to see MSU go on a tear and score 4 goals in the last 8 minutes to win. I also got to see Jay and I momentarily in the stands, completely blotto. Stupid kids so drunk we missed one of the greatest comebacks I ever saw.

First 30 years of Munn seas a season ticket holder before moving away. Missed one game for best friend’s wedding. Poor scheduling on his part. Good to see John Sturges. Does he remember a scavenger hunt at the Library in Houghton?
