Sounds like Jones has options outside football: he's intelligent, apparently a solid student at Duke (economics). I wouldn't be shocked if he retired and went to business school or something.

If I were him I’d wait a week or two to sign somewhere. See if a playoff team’s starter goes down and he can get the chance to make a run and prove he can be the guy. Maybe it’s just a rental this season, then next offseason another team will take a flyer on him and he is the opportunity to be a franchise guy again

He’s out only because of the business side of his contract -23 million injury guarantee next season and Giants are tanking for a QB. Daniel Jones is still a starting level QB in the league although a bottom level starter. He’s levels above Gardner Minshew.. Bruce Young.. Wil Levis..he’s on par with Sam Darnold.

Best case scenario he can be a backup for a good team with good offensive coaches. Similar to darnold going to the niners and baker going to the rams

Jones was benched because of a 23 million injury clause in his contract. Any team that claims him off waivers is on the hook for that. Jones will clear waivers and get signed by a good team for the vet minimum just like Russel Wilson did.

Mayfield, Darnold, Wilson, Winston, Flacco, Dalton... there will be a place for Jones. Giants are in full tank mode.

He might actually be a fit for the Vikings. Bring him in as a cheap backup to Darnold this year. We dont really have a viable back up if Darnold goes out for several games. Then he could be a bridge QB to McCarthy next year. (Everyone assumes Darnold will sign somewhere else next year at more that the Vikes are willing to pay.) McConnell seems to be able to bring out the very best in a QB, Jones might be decent as a backup and next year until hopefully McCarthy is ready. That said, I watched a game with Jones recently, and I was shocked at his lack of accuracy. It amazes me they paid this guy 40 mil a year.

he looked pretty good the year that he got the contract. The vikings got destroyed. I think really any QB could succeed wif they develop correctly. But sometimes bad development is irreversible.
