The new revised PS5 came out today, and regardless of PlayStation not calling it the Slim, that's the name that's already sticking. Let's unbox it, take a look at some of the physical changes in its design, and get a feel for this new model compares to the original.

I really wish they'd give physical copies of the games in these bundles too. You could sell it if it was a game you didn't want and use that money to buy a game you like more.

I love those new deep red plates, red and black just work. Wasn't a fan of the first red they used, too pink, but this red 👌🏻

If you position the new PS5 slim vertically the official Sony stand may improve ventilation as it raises the unit a few millimeters up off the ground and allows air to circulate better. And I l personally like the 2 clear plastic feet for horizontal placement- it makes the unit appear to be floating in mid air. Just my 2 cents.

I am with you, I LOVE the look and size of this one more! Especially when you compare them next to each other. It really puts it into perspective. For the last 3 years we’re forced to except the design but now that there is a new design out, I feel like SONY did it right this time. I just picked my bundle up today. I got the last one my Target had in stock! I love Target because of the 5% discount they give so I ended up paying almost a flat $500 even for it!

I love my OG launch model but man it’s such a behemoth on my entertainment center.. Won’t lie I have been eyeing to get this lol.

UPDATE: Ended up getting one today, retired my launch model it’s now sitting on my display shelf. The small form factor and port changes are a nice touch, not the biggest fan of the glossy panel tho lol.. But man this is a nice refresh.

The slim is noticable smaller. Been holding off on getting a PS5 until the slim comes out.

Still hate the disc drive still being so big. Like yeah they really can't change it's size, but why does it have to hang off the side lol

For a first time ps5 buyer I will be getting the slim when it is released in uk. Thanks for the video! I think people need to get over the slim/not slim. In my opinion it is visibly smaller and from what I hear it is lighter so that means slim to me!

If you format the memory, it unpairs the disk drive.

Meaning, you have to reconnect to the internet to pair it again.

It’s so clearly designed to be a vertical discless system, and the disc drive and horizontal “stand” are afterthoughts. And the new version just accentuates that. So strange. I’ve been holding out in hopes that the mid-gen slim model would be an altogether different aesthetic, but they sort of doubled down on everything I hate about it. Oh well.

I'm curious whether the HDMI 2.1 bandwidth will increase from the current 32Gbps to 40 or
48Gbps or stay the same
With 4K 120Hz output, the current model outputs compressed YUV instead of RGB output. Thanks !!
