A very sobering and spiritual piece. I've always loved it, and requested it be played at my dad's memorial. He was a WWII US Navy veteran, and was one who almost didn't make it home.
God bless all my fellow veterans.

Amazing recording! Love the pedals the tuba is playing, it goes so well with the music, such great core and foundation.

I prefer to hear the hymn played first by 4 horns, then reprised by the full Marine Band. The tubas give it immense breadth.

In Galveston, Texas you will hear this hymn sung on September 8, the anniversary of the Great Hurricane of 1900

In 1963 I first learned to sing this hymn for a memorial service for Lieutenant Commander John Wesley Harvey, skipper of the USS Thresher, who had graduated from my high school, Frankford H.S. in Philadelphia. I've always been moved when I've heard it since, as at John McCain's funeral

Very nice and slowed and also chilled music

Too slow, the music needs to flow. This slow rendition makes it jerky, unmusical, over sentimental and not what the composer would have wanted. Also the low peddle on the tuba is annoying.
