The Rally de Portugal, also known as the Portugal Rally, is an annual rally racing event that has been part of the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar for several decades. The 1985 Rally de Portugal was a significant event in the world of rally racing and featured some memorable moments.

In 1985, the Rally de Portugal took place as the fifth round of the 1985 World Rally Championship season. The event was held from March 14th to March 17th and covered various stages and terrains in the picturesque landscapes of Portugal. The rally consisted of both gravel and tarmac stages, which tested the drivers' skills and the capabilities of their cars.

One of the standout features of the 1985 Rally de Portugal was the battle between the top rally teams and drivers. The rally attracted some of the biggest names in the sport, including legends like Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Ari Vatanen, and Timo Salonen, among others. These drivers were competing in powerful and iconic rally cars of the time, such as the Lancia Delta S4, Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, and Ford RS200.

Throughout the rally, the lead position changed hands multiple times as drivers pushed their limits on the challenging stages. The competitive spirit was intense, and the race was closely watched by fans and enthusiasts. The weather conditions added another layer of complexity, as rain and changing surfaces made the stages even more treacherous.

In the end, it was Finnish driver Timo Salonen who emerged victorious in the 1985 Rally de Portugal. He was driving for the Peugeot Talbot Sport team in their Peugeot 205 Turbo 16. Salonen's consistent and skilled driving allowed him to secure the top spot on the podium. This victory was particularly significant for Salonen and Peugeot, as it marked their first win in the 1985 WRC season.

The 1985 Rally de Portugal showcased the excitement and drama that are inherent to rally racing. The event highlighted the importance of driver skill, team strategy, and the reliability of the cars in conquering a variety of challenging stages. The victory for Timo Salonen and Peugeot remains an important chapter in the history of the Rally de Portugal and the broader world of rally racing.

Muchas gracias por el video. Era una categoría peligrosa, pero muy atractiva. 🤪🤪
