Gerda Covell was my Aunt. This video made me cry so hard. She was so loving and kind and I loved her so much. I have some of her beautiful paintings that my Uncle gave me.

I love the movie The Big Blue. Jaques was and still is such an inspiration for me. I also love freediving. But I also had (even several) big losses in my life and I became depressive. Unfortunately I can't get a diver license because of my medication although freediving would help me a lot to get over it.
RIP Jaques. Merci for being down here with us on earth and for teaching us the beauty of the oceans.

I was just a kid when I watched Big Blue for the first time and I was overwhelmed with the story, I remembered it recently and watched it again and the feeling is the same. So I started doing research and found out that it is based on Mayol's life...so now I am researching him and cannot believe that kind of people are real.... must see this documentary asap :)

Jaques Mayol is the father of effective free diving!
He understood the necessity of being 100% calm and a slowed down heartbeat!!!
He did practice Yoga to reach a state of inner peace, silence and absolute emtiness!!
Only that way you can use one breath that effective and go to depths that deep!!
He is the god of the gods of freedivers!!!

I watched the whole documentary! It was very interesting and sad! Interesting to learn about his free diving skills and a bit scary too! As he pushed the limits of his body! Sad because he loved the ocean and dolphins but he was so depressed about losing his girlfriend he loved so deeply! Too bad he never got help!!💖😞rest in peace Jaques Mayol

Happy that you talk about the american version....seen it many years ago in Taiwan. And I like it more than the european version.
I stuck on Green Island / Taiwan.
Came here to escape the Situation in europe / germany and eventually started snorkeling and found your great videos on YouTube. Seen some other guys trying to explain how to master free diving...but you are actually the best...you have humor but remain serious. By the way: how old are you?
