Lost my Dad tonight. Had to listen to this immediately. “..that this is just goodbye for now.”

October 17, 2015, my son, just short of 32 years old became The Man of the Hour and took his final bow. Fought the monster known as ALS for almost three years and in the end won, was freed from its ugly grasp and grew his wings. Good bye for now JoelyD, see you later Son. I miss you always ❤❤❤.

I think of my dad when I listen to this song. He was a gentleman who loved his family and friends and especially my mom and I. He was diagnosed with arthritis in his 30’s, probably from having both legs broken in WWII. But he persevered through the pain, and worked in a steel mill until he retired. He was amazing, strong and a good man ❤

The evolution of Eddie, drinking puke in his 20's to writing sentimental songs. It's really loveley, backed by the fact he can reach the high notes. He's truly about life, respect to him and the band, legendary band/

I scattered my dad's ashes listening to this. Goodbye for now.

I just said "Goodbye For Now", to the love of my life of 23 years, the most gut renching feeling ever! I feel like I can't breathe! But it was necessary. Totally heart broken in N.C. USA. So thank God we have music, especially by Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam, to help me and him, navigate through this. Keep singing...

"Father ruled by long division" -- breaking down big problems into smaller pieces.... "young men pretend, old men comprehend" - such a marvelous way to explain the generational gap in wisdom

"Eddie Vedder paid tribute to Staley during a Pearl Jam concert in Chicago on August 22, 2016, which would have been Staley's 49th birthday, and dedicated the song "Man of the Hour" to his late friend." 💔😢

Tidal waves don't beg forgiveness
Crashed and on their way
Father he enjoyed collisions; others walked away
A snowflake falls in may.
And the doors are open now as the bells are ringing out

'Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Goodbye for now.

Nature has its own religion; gospel from the land
Father ruled by long division, young men they pretend
Old men comprehend.

And the sky breaks at dawn; shedding light upon this town
They'll all come â??round
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Good bye for now.

And the road
The old man paved
The broken seems along the way
The rusted signs, left just for me

He was guiding me, love, his own way
Now the man of the hour is taking his final bow
As the curtain comes down
I feel that this is just goodbye for now

I think this song teaches us to never take a moment with our family for granted, because one day they will be gone.

This song makes me cry my heart out. My brother passed recently at 37 of spinal meningitis. He was a navy corpsman in the US navy. I miss him so much my heart is broken. Till we talk again....

One of my Favorites. This will be played at my funeral you can bet that.

Those lyrics are some of the most moving and unforgiving ever written, in my humble opinion. God bless u all.

Truly, truly WONDERFUL! In my eyes, James Norton (Sidney) was the one and only 'vicar' of Grantchester! He portrayed the role SO sublimely! Love him to bits!! SO glad I've bought all the DVD's of Grantchester, first 4 series. Also the books! Truly beautiful, so well written! Have read them so many times and still continue to watch the first 4 series over and over again. Truly BRILLIANT!!! ❤❤❤❤
