I listened to 12 minutes of ranting to find out that some of the mud in the Mississippi was once a crystal way up in Ontario. Sheeesh Steve, you've really got this ranting stuff down to a science.😁

Yet you find green beaches, sand mainly composed of olivine with the potential to create a olivine wacky if, say, the ocean goes up quickly. What about beryl? Does it resist weather well? It should right?

Is there a physical or chemical connection between a mineral forming first and chemically weathering first? That is, is the reason it forms first cause the reason it weathers first?
