Walaikum Assalam 🥰.

My favourite verse is 22:46 (“Indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts in the chests that grow blind”)

Just shows how gaslighting is 7th pillar of Islam. (After whataboutism)

Generalising all non-Muslims or Muslims questioning the faith to be the ‘problem’ themselves as they’re blind, ignorant, arrogant, corrupted by Iblis

but NOT THE RELIGION itself.

That surah about god's chair was always strange to me. Why does god need a chair? Is this just a sign of humans anthropomorphizing him?

Even when I stopped believing I still occasionally read it especially in my dreams or nightmares. I had been psychologically programmed to resort to ayatul kursi in cases of discomfort or fear. Habits hardly die

Actually it's my favorite too my mom taught me it when I was a child and she was proud of me when I memorized it, she said that it can protect me from demons so I read it every night to feel safe, and I love the cave Sora, for the same reason, I love how my mom read it every Friday, I was so disgraced when I left Islam, but now I'm happy to have overcome that and to enjoy what I used to love in Islam like Ramadan and others

Sura 111 is probably my favourite.

This is where we have Allah cursing Muhammad's uncle Abu Lahab.

Muslims would have you believe the Quran is the eternal word of God. So Allah was cursing Abu Lahab before he created the universe, then he was cursing him for billions of years after the Big Bang, then he was cursing Abu Lahab before he was born, then Abu Lahab was born, then Muhammad told him that Allah curses him, then Abu Lahab died and now Allah will continue to curse him for an eternity.

So Allah's eternal word is contigent on Abu Lahab, so Allah had no choice but to create Abu Lahab.

So if Allah and his speech are contingent on a creature, he is not all powerful as he had no choice in creating Abu Lahab even though he was wishing him to be dead (before he was born), because in his unchangeable speech he has to curse him. Allah also cannot create a new Universe and stop thinking about Abu Lahab, because cursing Abu Lahab is a part of his unchangeable eternal speech. He can never move on in any universe where he isn't bound to cursing Abu Lahab for all of eternity.

Of course the more rational reason of course is that Sura 111 is just another Muhammed addition.

Joshua Fought The Battle Of Jericho is a disturbing song I can still have nostalgic feelings about (picked it up from a Episcopalian Church at age 3or 4-no Quaker Meeting Houses were around where we lived then) when I turn my brain off.

I like 4:25 because in the supporting hadith it shows that people questioned Mohammad and his wisdom.

i relate to the point about how ayat al kursi makes you feel, because my mom would do something similar where she made me learn it by heart to recite before i slept for “protection. now because of that i associate it with safety and comfort, and reciting it/hearing it recited is soothing as hell. even tho im not a muslim anymore i can admit that being a non arabic speaker i can look at many verses i remember and appreciate the sense of calm they leave me with because of the way my mom would teach me about them.

Hey, I'm also an ex-muslim atheist and I totally can relate to that. When I was faced with any bad situations, I used to recite Surat Al-Fatiha and I subconsciously made myself calm enough to face that situation.

i was so terrified of jinn and being possessed by one as a little kid that i wrote it on a piece of paper and hung it up on the wall next to my bed to read every night before sleeping because it granted "protection." i used to be so scared of falling asleep because of it. poor baby me 😢

I am not a former muslim juat an agnostic who grew up with agnostic dad and a Christian mom but she was one of those "goes to church on the hoildays" types and was very liberal and even I will admit there are some verses in the Bible (and I am sure the Quran) that by themselves are nice and beautiful. Its the fact of what surrounds them that ruin them

When i was a Muslim, My favorite verse was (What can after this (O man) make you deny the judgment?) 95:7 because i had this question for a long time, but i have the answer now

That verse starts with god's insomnia and ends with his need for a chair. Does he also have a complete furniture set like a dining set, TV stand, computer table, PlayStation console rack, king-sized bed and billiards table?

apart from the criticism, it still is a beautiful verse of the Quran. It's the classical attributes of an absolute God, but it's beautifully written in Arabic.

My favorite one is when Momo lays out his house order (33:53) were we get informed on how we should behave in the home of a man who is now dead for 1400y.

Hasubi kursiy qittati. This is a sentence from Duo Lingo, it means My computer is my cat's chair. Why didn't I put two and two together and never associated the cat's chair with Ayat-al-Kursiy? I see the Chair / Throne Verse quite often!
So the Duo sentence now translates My computer is my cat's throne 😁
Peace to all of us!

Thank you for sharing! Even though I haven't been religious for a long time, I still like to read about all the fabulous creatures like angels in the Bible. But I think the verses about animals in Eden are usually the best. I always thought it would be so neat to be in a big jungle full of friendly animals that didn't have to eat or fight one another.
