I can only speak for my own experiences.
My parents and some others projected most of their thoughts & feelings into me when I had no defenses to either stop them or alter their "projections". I clearly recall times when I did not believe nor wanted to believe some of the ugly, nonsense they were "projecting" into my mind (conditioning) BUT had no way to stop it PLUS I had a deep need and desire to please them so I just took in all of their INSANITY and made it my own. Much later in life, I entered psychotherapy to undo the mental/emotional damages put here by my parents and others but have not succeeded in undoing all of it so far. I am not saying that therapy is the ultimate solution but it helped me a lot to arrive at this place where I now can benefit from David's teachings.
