Every video and article I have read has said the same thing. My iMac doesn't allow me to keep the dock showing while on other apps or on safari or anything I do at all on the computer. Is there any way to keep the dock visible at all times so it never disappears? There are times when I am going back and forth to different apps and it makes it very difficult having to put my cursor to the bottom of the screen in order to go back to another app without having it side by side and some applications do not allow side by side view. Please HELP!

Does not work when putting in full screen mode. I don't care about full screen mode. There is no maximize button on most browsers, only full screen. Annoying AF.

Unfortunately my system preferences look totally different than yours and I don't have the same options :-(... so this doesn't work. Maybe my Macbook is too old.

I know how to make my doc come and go and I have them on the left side of the screen. My problem is how to make the top "dock" where you can see Safari, file, edit, view, etc. all those on this dock disappear and will only appear as your mouse of cursor nears this "dock". How can I make the upper dock remain static? I don't want to keep looking at the clock or battery with them hiding.
