Coin Ops is brilliant! In soo many flavours to suit older PCs, CRT and HD displays. Just run the batch files a you need. Great!

This is new to me, but what's interesting is that CoinOps Next seems like a modular that's supported by a community of content creators with an active discord channel and a simple copy/paste to root folder approach. I've seen individuals offer launchbox / attract mode pc modular builds but the setup and debugging becomes tied to that individual's choices and their ability to release addon packs varies with their personal availability. Thanks to DrewTalks introducing me to the world of CoinOps Next! I feel after a few days I'm already close to a working 'dream' home arcade.

This looks pretty good. Downloaded a Coinops version about a year ago but it was a hassle configuring PS2, PSP and others, This will do for me. Thanks for the video.

This is the NEXT release. NEXT2 is being worked on at the moment, and will be a much smoother experience still.

CoinOps is pretty brilliant. The engine is just RetroFE but then they layer in all the hand crafted screens, bezels, videos, logos, etc. FYI CoinOPs Next is for a PC Gaming rig while CoinOps Arcadia (currently at v6) is for arcade setups.

Would love to see you put up a tutorial on installing, customizing (bezels, scan-lines, upscaling, controller config, etc)
and pack installs.

cool vids as always, when the app's audio comes in, it tends to drown out your commentary making you hard to hear, (see 1:50 and for that next 10 seconds, the platform music clips drown you out) may want to adjust so it maintains your wise and noble voice for us listeners. :D in this vid you didn't delve into the 'comparison' territory contrasting this to say LaunchBox etc. i've not yet tried a coinops build (am using launchbox) but i think you may have it well summed up with if its true that one can just drop in a downloaded coinops image to a hard drive and go then that will appeal. though this is all based on have a pre-fab setup. i think there are launchbox pre-setup builds out in the wild too, which, with BigBox (a purchased item) can and does look like what you see in the coinops theming (but obviously theres that aspect of having to purchase the bigbox license vs apparently coinops is free).
when i hear 'it comes with scripts' i cringe a little as i dont wanna have to mess with scripts to fix or customize anything. but theres no doubt what you show in the vid looks cool and would be worth playing around with. i'd want to look into what it takes to customize and add games/platforms etc. need some howto vids but i'm sure that info is around somewhere. Thanks looking forward to the next drop!

Hey drew this has been out for a while and I know you have put arcade punks to get it from but the safest correct place is discord and then back-up. This is where you will get a lot of support and so many extra packs you will be lost for a week haha

Well, if you get down to it, there's no such thing as "CoinOps", it's REtroFE with the name "CoinOps" stamped on it. This collection wasn't "made", it was borrowed, altered, and tweaked/

And, in all reality, it's a collection that's been borrowed and added to over the years and keeps growing because people have figured out how EASY RetroFE is to configure.

Yes, it's probably the biggest collection i've seen with so much well put-together stuff. However, RetroFE has been around for quite a while and just lately someone "named" it 'CoinOps'. And there is a CoinOps2 as well as well as a CoinOps 5 "Saucey" edition for the Legends Ultimate arcade machine. Not to mention the "grandfather" version of this called CoinOps 8 "Gold" made for the 'original' Xbox.

People keep confusing CoinOps as a "product" but it's not. It's just a "flavor" of RetroFE.

It's just like there's no such thing as Pinball Emporium. It's a guy who took the collective stuff of someone else (and CoinOps pinball stuff) and decided to "call" it Pinball Emporium when it's really RetroFE as well.

Bascially it's the glory work of someone taking credit for other people's work. These packs go way back before CoinOps or Pinball Emporium because i remember them and their structures.

It's just younger dudes taking credit for other dude's work.

As someone who has used both front ends, the only similarity between Hyperspin and CoinOps is cosmetic. Hyperspin is usually not a "plug and play" experience. There is a lot of hurt once you have to get into rocketlauncher. CoinOps is literally plug and play... you don't even have to select a specific letter on your drive yo make it run, as it has relative paths. The only warning is to be careful with the packs on the first NEXT release, the majority of them are not official packs so a few do create issues with the main program. It is recommended only to download those that have been tested. If you have a more adventurous spirit, by all means install them all, just remember the warning :)
