Siffa and Wassiffa from Birmingham dropped this in Palmcove Club in Bradford 1982. The skanking was out of this world. From then on it was my favourite tune ever !

Another 'Shaka Killer'???
It makes me smile every time I see people who think that when it comes to a big tune, it was inevitably played by Shaka first! We have to give credit where credit is due. King Step is sung by Breadback (aka Reuben Roots) and backed by the 'Truths & Rights Syndicate'. It was produced in Birmingham and played by sound systems from Birmingham: Nyah Esquire, Jah Wassifa, ... There is a recording of Wassifa Vs. Shaka from the 80's and the Midlands heavyweight Wassifa drop some serious dubs including King Step!

King step was written and produced by a very talented brother Irvin, Woolley, better known as Wooligan, he is a Sound Engineer & Producer from Handsworth Birmingham with vocals sung by bread back or spears, . Wooligan made quite a few Amazing steppers dub plates, and I believe he still does. one of the most talented guys you could ever meet. I also think Wooligan was behind the Apachie indian record Boom shak a lak. But king step was a wicked 80's tune, which siffa, jah tubbys, shaka, and wassifia, all had varying different dub cut's
thanks for sharing.
