The craziest thing you can do in cs2 surf is not switch over to source after 5 minutes

Never thought i'd see surfing footage as the subject

Same thing with rocket / bomb jumping in TF2. Holding W just caps your movement speed when all the jumps and surfs require you to go faster then that speed.

I remember going backwards always a super fun challenge. Never completed any maps but if feels awesome to link the ramps backwards

People did this a lot even back in 1.6 and I'm not talking about elite players but some just learned sideways from the beginning and sticked with it.

i remember the first time me and my brother played on a csdm surf map and went "how the hell does this work" we just keep sliding off the ramp. Good times.

Surfing backwards is something I learned in 2004.

Funny to see it's still a thing in counter strike.

Half strafes are important for certain obstacles and can build more momentum

i used to play sideways / backwards and it was so fun using S and W. i miss it ngl, might have to hop back in

Using W is actually good in some cases. If you have too much speed and need to get lower down the ramp without having to move your aim. Helping you to slide across the ramp instead of trying to fall.

Hsw is so hard but I love the stage maps because I can actually progress with it

Generally, very rarely do you wanna hold w when the game considers you airborne

(Surfing, bhopping, jumping)

Not holding w and slowly turning your mouse in the way you wanna go + a/d lets you have a ton more air control, which is called air strafing

It's also useful for rocket jumping in tf2

I've surfed for a over a decade, mostly combat surf and in the end u just use every axis without thinking, even backwards half-sideways. some of the best gaming moments i've had in cs surf. miss it :'(

i have surfed in TF2 a lot more than in counter strike. what's weird is that it is really very similar but also slightly different feeling at the same time

For my tf2 players do the same thing when blast jumping (holding W gimps your air strafing and hurts your momentum and air contact)

I learned to surf holding ctrl originally. I've trained that habit out.
