In theaters May 16th.

In Summer 2014, the world's most revered monster is reborn as Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures unleash the epic action adventure "Godzilla." From visionary new director Gareth Edwards ("Monsters") comes a powerful story of human courage and reconciliation in the face of titanic forces of nature, when the awe-inspiring Godzilla rises to restore balance as humanity stands defenseless.

Gareth Edwards directs "Godzilla," which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson ("Kick-Ass"), Oscar® nominee Ken Watanabe ("The Last Samurai," "Inception"), Elizabeth Olsen ("Martha Marcy May Marlene"), Oscar® winner Juliette Binoche ("The English Patient," "Cosmopolis"), and Sally Hawkins ("Blue Jasmine"), with Oscar® nominee David Strathairn ("Good Night, and Good Luck.," "The Bourne Legacy") and Bryan Cranston ("Argo," TV's "Breaking Bad").

I just saw Godzilla 2014 in IMAX 3D and I think everyone needs to stop complaining about the very limited screen time Godzilla actually had in the movie. Just like the original, Godzilla didn't get very much time on camera, which adds to the build up, suspense, and the awe when you finally see him. Just imagine the movie with Godzilla popping up and fighting every five minutes, you would lose interest and curiosity and it'll become another mindless monster mash movie. To backup my argument, some movies with it's antagonist on the screen for a small amount of time are:
The Wicked Witch - The Wizard of OZ (12 minutes)
Darth Vader - Star Wars: A New Hope (12 minutes)
Hannibal Lector - Silence of the Lambs (16 minutes)
The Joker - The Dark Knight (33 minutes) Which may seem long but is actually only 20% of the movie
T-Rex - Jurassic Park (Not sure how much time but it is only a few minutes)
Jaws - JAWS (Again not sure but it has to be only a couple minutes)
The list goes on for many other lesser known movies.
I loved the original, don't get me wrong. But when it comes to the actual production value of the two movies, Godzilla 2014 is much better. Better effects, acting, sound, and in some cases the music which can be opinionated but I think it was great.
I would rate Godzilla 1954 9/10 because of the nostalgia and just the fact it is the original and paved the way for the new one. I would rate the 2014 Godzilla 10/10 because it was able to capture what the original had but make it even better.
I already know a bunch of people are going to strongly disagree with me but you cannot deny this is the truth. In conclusion, please stop arguing that Godzilla didn't get enough screen time.
10/10 would watch again

The movie was great! Main characters can die (whether you like it or not this is how the real world works) and the monsters looked fantastic. Great CGI, the attention to detail was obvious and great to see. Everyone who bitches and moans about Godzilla not being in it constantly need to understand the director and his direction.

First, it is NOT a movie about Godzilla destroying cities all day. It is based around two other monsters and Godzilla is considered the balancing force in nature. Remember that Godzilla is considered the king of all monsters due to his immense size and age. In this movie he doesn't care for humans because in reality they cant do shit about him and he knows it. So he focuses on the two monsters who are obviously challengers to his domain and rule. If they had made Godzilla appear early i bet everyone would then say "oh my god this was so stupid, all Godzilla did was run around and destroy things for 2 plus hours." Whether you acknowledge it or not that would have gotten old immediately. Instead they built up to his revealing by telling the story of how he supposedly came to be and how these other monsters arrived. By the time he appears, it is totally worth it, and i think its the best looking Godzilla yet!

Plus while you wait for Godzilla's appearance you are kept company by some crazy looking monsters and a shroud of mystery. It is a great movie! 200 million in a weekend is proof enough.

I actually heard that they were planning on using this very mysterious dramatic ad campaign for Pacific Rim, but then execs started seeing clips and hearing things about how good this movie was.  They decided to save the epic campaign idea and money for this movie instead...pretty cool, and makes me REALLY excited to see this movie!

I will never forget the theater cheering when he first fully appears onscreen at the airport, and again when his spines lit up and the breath happened. I’m a lifelong Godzilla fan and I enjoyed this movie and KOTM. I’m looking forward to Godzilla vs Kong!

I saw the movie last night with my two best friends.  It was worth every penny.
now i can prove that THERE'S NO RODAN!  THERE'S NO MOTHRA, NO KING GHIDORAH, NO ANGUIRUS, NO ORGA, NO MECHAGODZILLA!  its only Godzilla, winged muto and eight legged muto.

Finally! A Godzilla movie where the destruction is actually horrifying as opposed to something you watch while eating popcorn! That hasn't been seen since the first film.

The buildup was slow but the ending was very satisfying. Especially those who are fans of Godzilla. Totally recommend it

Now people understand why Godzilla fans crap on the 1998 version....because THIS is what those idiots at TriStar denied us for 16 stinking years; a blockbuster Godzilla film in IMAX 3D and CGI. Who ever decided to make him a giant iguana with a big chin back in 1998 must be feeling really stupid & embarassed today by the success of this 2014 version because Legendary & Warner Brothers are laughing all the way to the bank.

I love how at the end of every trailer, they have the Godzilla roar to wrap it up. Just makes you want to see the movie more every time you hear it! Can't wait!
