I think It also closely represents kilowatts 500i= 5kw - 400c= 4kw - 260= 2.6kw atleast on most stihl saws it's close

One thing i've heard mentioned is, if the middle number is EVEN, then its a commercial/forestry grade model. That rule seems to work everywhere except on the MS180/181

From what my dealer told me if the number had a 6 in it with the exception of the 500i and the 088/880/881 its a pro forestry saw. 036 360 361 362 046 460 461 066 660 and 661 all pro saws.

i always thought the C meant it had easy start on it. Tell me why every saw I have ever PDI with a c was easy start

Mine are a couple years old, 150 and 250, when did that M happen, don't like microprosser in chainsaw sentence, or is that only for the new electric ones?
