How to fix a loose gaspedal in your car in 2 minutes for FREE

The first half inch of the gaspedal was just dead and did nothing. It just felt like a loose pedal until you pushed it far enough as to where it gives gas. So I found a really easy fix to this problem and it only took about 2 minutes and is totally free! Makes your throttle response much more instant and steady.
I was working on a mazda mx-5 in this video, but it is pretty much the same in almost every car!
Hope this helps!

Aaron, thanks a million dude. I literally just inspected my car and wondered if this cable should be this loose. I was checking why my RPM goes up and down at idle, so I was revving it manually from the engine side with my hands and noticed how loose the cable was. Will go back and tighten it. 3 years and this video is still helping people. Thanks again!

I just bought my first car! The slack from the cable was so bad it took forever just to get up to the speed limit, and I had to push the gas down so far! This video helped so much! I will feel much safer in traffic!

It's great how easily we can fix things once we get to know how it's done. This video is very usefull but bro I'd like to state something about it and that is, you should have a bit play on your pedal, not as much as you had on your Miata but slightly less than that. The reason for that is to not put strain on the cable when flooring it. If it doesn't have at least 2mm free play in it then it'll slowly damage the cable (if you floor the pedal that much) and could also damage the valve that opens up when you press on the pedal. All the owner's manual of any manufacturer has these details in them about how much free play should the pedal have.

I have been wanting to do this to my Mazda's loose throttle pedal but wasn't sure if I was going to do it properly. Thanks for clearing my mind.

The gas pedal wire in my '94 Toyota Celica Mk6 tends to fall out of this pulley connected to the throttle or whatever this thing is, which might cause some problems with gas pedal response. Maybe I'll try to tighten the cable as well.
