As a emt and medic in the military, people in the comments have never been in an adrenaline situation, and it shows . It doesn't matter what you think you'd do now, your brain reacts how it reacts and you have very little control over unless you're incredibly trained, and even then, the adrenaline can take over sometimes . This womans insticts took over, and she ran to see if there was a fire, she did not kill the baby . It was a horrible tragic accident.

This breaks my heart, This year my husband walked away while our 3 year was in the tub for literally 30 seconds&she had drowned he had to do CPR & thank God he was able to revive her. She lost her eyesight in both eyes but can see a tiny bit in her left eye it’s called Cortical vision Impairment. She finally got released from the hospital end of July. It has been a long recovering road for us all especially my Mother who can’t seem to forgive my husband. My heart breaks for this family bc we almost lost our babygirl forever 😭💔❤️‍🩹

Most people have no idea how quickly a toddler can drown compared to an older child or adult. This happens because a very young child's natural instinct when is danger is to cry out for help. If they do that while underwater, they drown *very* quickly. It can happen in 2 minutes.

I'm not surprised the mother didn't know this because most people never even think about something like this.

Honestly it seems the wife blames the mother, and it's best to end the marriage. This is something that's very difficult to recover from even if everyone is on the same page and they clearly aren't.

What was she supposed to do, run into a possibly burning house with a baby? There was no winning for her there. In a fire, you have seconds to act, not minutes. Same with a child.

It was a fire alarm, it was a complete accident. She also wouldn't take a child to a possible fire, so leaving the child there was safest. It was a freak accident, divorce over someone not wrongfully blaming a loved one is not right

I actually know a couple that had something extremely similar happen to them. The grandma was doing laundry while babysitting- the backdoor was broken and wouldnt close all the way. So the baby was able to open it and you could assume the rest. From what i know, the couple never blamed the grandma even a little bit. But its completely understandable why the wife in this situation doesn't want to associate with the grandma

It was an accident, it’s completely unfair to say that the MIL murdered the daughter. She panicked. Whose first instinct when they hear a fire alarm is to pick up an infant and bring them into a potentially burning building? It’s not like she dropped the kid into the pool, she just went into fight or flight.

blame is a natural part of grief, and honestly temporarily at least he should give his wife time to heal
the MIL was the one babysitting, it’s not that it’s her fault but it would be difficult not to blame her
