Hoon time! Join me for a commentary-free run along the 643, between Rakitna and Cerknica (which I mis-pronounce horribly!) near Postejna in Slovenia. What a road! If you don't like to hear a screaming twin-cylinder engine, probably best give this one a miss!

As an American who’s used to driving on the left side of the car I love this camera perspective because it feels like I’m driving! That engine roar is incredibly satisfying, definitely sportier sounding than my ‘68 bug with its worn synchros. I love how twisty mountain roads like this make low powered cars feel like race cars. My Slovenian Tomos moped is a blast on roads like this.

Proving conclusively that you don't need speed, BHP or Carlos Fandango wheels to have fun and enjoy a great driving experience in a car as long as the road and the weather is right. One of my earliest road trip memories is of my late father driving a fully laden Standard 8 up the alps with such vigour to the Col du Mont Cenis that by the time we were coming down the other side the brakes had cooked and to stop at customs he had to run into a storm ditch. Happy days :-) .

Nice to see someone completely as one with their car. Lovely control. In many ways this road is similar to the up-country “mountain” roads in Thailand. I have driven these in numerous cars over the last twenty years, from a humble 1.5 Honda city(rover 200/civic shape), to a Hilux, to our latest Fortuner with 500nm of twist. ....the best by far was the humble little Honda which hung on for dear life and made the most out of every power....less IS more! Brilliant video. Thanks for sharing.

Proof that you don't need to go insanely fast to have fun - drove on a similarly twisty (but sometimes more narrow) road here in Sweden the other day and observed that I was enjoying myself hugely at as low speeds as 43 km/h. Epic!
