A video about a field

In a field near Langscar Gate in the stunning Yorkshire Dales, you’ll find an incredible piece of history: an Iron Age hut circle. These ancient remnants fascinate me so much that I’ll gladly trek across fields just to see them up close.

Standing in the exact spot where people lived thousands of years ago is truly mind-blowing. It makes you wonder—what were their lives like? What were they thinking, feeling, and experiencing in that very place? Were they concerned with the same things we are today, or was survival their only focus? It’s a mystery, but one that I find endlessly fascinating.

And yes, I appreciate that not everyone will be so excited by just standing in the middle of a field 😊

There's nothing like watching someone passionate about what they do. Despite living in a reality very different from yours, your highly technical videos, but in simple and passionate language, made a Brazilian fall in love with the English countryside and its culture.

Wonderful to see the joy of someone who loves what they do and do what they love

When our granddaughter was in 5th or 6th grade, she wasn't very impressed that my wife and I visited cemeteries when on vacation. So the next time we took the grandkids on vacation, I mentioned that we were near the cemetery where Sacagawea was buried. Our granddaughter asked if we could stop there. She had done a project that school year on Sacagawea, so I knew she would be interested. When we were standing at the gravesite, I mentioned that she though visiting cemeteries on vacation was silly. She quickly replied, "But grandpa, it's Sacagawea!"

There's something special about standing there, in 'the place where it happened'. I enjoy your 'waffles'. Thanks for sharing them.

I’m with you on this. I love hearing about interesting things and like you, I’m thrilled to see such hut circles. My father took me to see the hut circles on Dartmoor when I was a kid. Please keep up your ‘diversions’ 😂

I do think your waffles are the best! It’s great that you provide this interesting content. I’ll have to look something amazing near me in North Texas.

Another great tangent, I love these trips down memory lane. I have wondered as I’ve walked along, who walked this path before me. I walk for enjoyment, were they traveling on a hunt, for trade, were they a war party or just exploring a new area?

I enjoy your presentations and your thought process; hwever, it would have been nice to give map locations so we could see it on Google Earth (unless, of course, you are protecting the site).

We‘ll probably never know for sure, but I wonder what were their navigation skills (people’s, not rhinoceros‘)

Fascinating site but I've got to fact-check you: in the UK the Iron Age was 800BC to 43AD so only 2-3000 years ago. 6-8000 years ago was the Neolithic. Oh and rhinos died out in the UK after the last glaciation ended 10000 years ago. Love your enthusiasm but please check your dates.

Yes. We - us here today - are not the first... but most younger people are not as aware of this fact as you are -- I guess they don't teach that on Tik-tok
