Another Cute Seal 'Thanks' Rescuer

Just like the seal from our first "Seal Thanks Rescuer" video from last year, this little baby seal made his rescue extra special for rescuers Antoine, Naude and Katja from Ocean Conservation Namibia. At first they had lost sight of him among the crowd, but they quickly spotted him and Naude grabbed him by his hind flipper. The white piece of plastic was quickly removed with the hook of their Leatherman Raptor Shears, and the seal decided to stick around a bit as if to say "thank you". For the rescuers, those little interactions are the icing on the rescue cake, a reward for the danger they put themselves in. 🦭

That was the cutest seal pup reaction I’ve seen. He didnt even try to bite back after the strapping was taken off.

The amount of trust that pup showed Naude is incredible. Turning his back to Naude and trusting Naude won't hurt him is one heck of a trust move. Well done, Gents

I think he was more relaxed by not having the net come over him. He could see what was going on around him, no panic trying to escape. Once the band was cut he knew they were helping and not hurting him. Calmed right down. So majestic to see the bond between animals and humans. Good going guys.

I noticed Naude's reflex to jump back before realizing that this little guy wasn't looking to take a bite but to have a little snuggle. 🥰 I'm sure these moments are quite rare when working with wild animals. So sweet when they do happen though!

The seal pup was very scared. His breathing was very heavy and he was struggling. As soon as the plastic was cut, you could see his instant relief. Thank you for saving another wonderful life. 🎉

That has to be SUPER gratifying. To see the seal just sit next to you after what could be a traumatic experience tells you that he considers you zero threat!
