Almost 3 years and still no basic patrol.. This should be a $900 camera max

I've got this camera mounted on a diamond with the top 1/3 of the diamond plated and the camera mounted to that plate. I can see 360 dgrees- 5 degree for each leg of the diamon of which there are 2 so 350 degree. Its freaking awesome... The camera can see pretty much everything, even at night... I've used it to hunt varmin, guide heavy equipment and deliveries while remote, monitor the house and driveway... although its best feature is a a giant "don't even think about it" sign to all the would be thieves and potential robbers. This thing might not be totally ready, in the commerical space but it is gold for the home owner that will invest in it. I can freaking monitor 10 acres of property with a single camera, if only there weren't so many trees....

Also, for the inclined, you can actually setup a small patrol program to set the ptz to a set of coordinates every no again by using their api to talk to the camera. It works well for getting quick shots but honestly its more for completeness of the context than real security. Your home view is doing 99% of the job so choose it carefully.

I really need them to allow auto tracking all the time....

So glad to see Unifi hasn't orphaned this very pricey purchase. They definitely got some well-deserved backlash about the initial lack of features, so I hope they fully make up for that (i.e. continue developing this well through the inevitable release of a G5 PTZ). Facial Recognition - if there's not enough hardware to handle it - should at least be supported when paired with a UDM Pro (or at very worst, sell an add-on hardware device for offloading the processing... people are NOT going to want to replace these with a G5 just for that feature, and Unifi will develop even more of a bad rep around high-end cameras if they just abandon this altogether, IMO).

License plate reading can be jerry-rigged with OpenALPR for anyone who needs it now, such as myself. It's workable, but a real pain to correlate. I'd love to see custom rule sets around multiple detections of license plates or loitering "blacklisted" plates. That'd be a huge selling point.

But yes, credit where credit is due: Thanks Unifi... for adding a feature I assumed would be available when I bought the thing ;)

Just ABSOLUTELY NEED automobile detection. License Plate I would buy this camera tomorrow!

nice test during the tracking 2 people would have been to have the 2 switch parking lot sides to see if the camera continued with the original person or switch targets to the "bigger threat"

No vehicle tracking, no license plate detection, and no patrol mode all kill this for me.

When I saw it in their site a few days ago, when I was first introduced to the brand, I got very interested in it. But like most stuff on their site, finding ALL of the details seems extraordinarily difficult.

Seeing this video tells me it needs work, or price cut in half.

I see in the settings in this video at 1:04, that the Frame rate is at 50 FPS... but Ubiquity's website says 24fps Max.... can anyone clarify?

Not so happy currently with the image quality of my Unifi setup (G4 bullets and AI360). It's okay to see what's going on, but recorded videos don't show enough detail. Not that certain about the general strategy of Unifi these days. Pricing is prosumers but features and image quality falls short.

To make the PTZ worth almost 2k more needs to happen. They should add a LIDAR sensor to improve 3D detection of moving objects. Ideally, it should integrate a second image sensor (G4/G5 style) to keep an eye on the entire scene, while the PTZ is pan/tilt/zooming. Following people beside, there must be a spotlight option (taking full advantage of the x22 zoom) to record people in full resolution, allowing to recognise faces to enable law enforcement. I would not mind, if the PTZ would directly integrate a WiFi6 hotspot to increase WiFi coverage on my property (simplify

Does anybody know, if the G4/G5 Pro now can auto focus/zoom (up x3) in case something is detected in the middle of the scene? There is restrictions because missing pan/tilt and based on optical zoom-range - but feature should not be that different to what has been added to PTZ.

Hey thanks for this video, I just tested the feature on protect ver 2.8.35 and OS 3.1.16 the tracking feature does not stick, as soon as I switch to different camera it disables itself. Same for you?

is there a PTZ camera similar to this one that works with the unfi platform and does NOT send data into a cloud?

A few settings that need work there. Turn off High FPS, you are just wasting the 4K love of that sensor. Set the slider for the motion to at least 1-2 seconds to avoid so many false-trips from bugs or flickers. I agree with others, poorly supported and progressed product.

The G4 PTZ doesn't have the advanced "AI" detection classifications, right?

Autotracking is a lot better on the G4 ptz compared to the G5 PTZ sadly
